My self-summary
I am generally quiet... until you get to know me. I am a college drop-out obsessed with life-long learning. I started out as a math major, but for the past five years I've been serving tea. I usually go out dancing more often than I work. I am a nocturnal creature, but I insist on getting my beauty sleep (in the daytime). I have a mohawk, but I usually wear it down and no one realizes. I wear all black and usually have on big stompy boots, but I'm extremely nice. Boys tell me I'm intimidating, but tourists ask me for directions. I like contradictions and people who don't fit neatly into society's boxes.

I am polite, inquisitive, and mentally androgynous
What I’m doing with my life
Learning, going out dancing, and enjoying beauty. Also, looking for adventure. I miss traveling and am hoping to do more soon.
I’m really good at
I'm really NOT good at answering questions like this, so let's take some answers from the crowd: "You give the best hugs!", "You are possibly the nicest person I've ever met" , "You are an amazing dancer." - These are a few that I've heard repeatedly over the years. Thanks to those who have contributed!
The first things people usually notice about me
my funny colored hair or my boots
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love books. I generally have at least one fiction & one
non-fiction book going. I always want to be learning. My favorite
book is Nocturnal Man-made Trees by Kiyoaki Toyohara. It's a
book of poetry written by a troubled Japanese youth. Its
publication and translation into English were the award of a poetry
competition.
Some of my other favorite books: the Moral Animal, How the
Mind Works
, Middlesex
Some of my favorite authors: Steven Pinker, Richard
Dawkins
, Kurt Vonnegut, Chuck Palahniuk, Augusten
Burroughs
, Neil Gaiman

In movies I tend to go for the visually stunning. One of my favorite
directors is Wong Kar-Wai (2046, In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels).
Some other favorite movies: Baraka, City of Lost Children,
Amelie, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead, Leon,
Bottlerocket, Brick, Singin' in the Rain, Blade Runner, Fifth Element, Hero, Fight Club, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Spellbound (Hitchcock)

I don't have a television, but I am addicted to TEDtalks... and now that I have Netflix I watch a lot of documentaries.

Some of my favorite musicians: Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin,
Autour de Lucie, Bjork, DJ Krush, Massive Attack
(especially Mezzanine), Muse, Portishead, Assemblage 23, Beats Antique, Clearlake, Dead Can Dance, Delerium, Dresden Dolls, Endif, Florence & the Machine, Gogol Bordello, Goldfrapp, Gorillaz, Halou, Juno Reactor, Kate Nash, Klute, Liz Phair, Loop!station, Neotropic, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Regina Spektor, Tipper, Trentemoller, Wolfsheim, Wumpscut.

My favorite consumables: dark chocolate (especially spicy/salted varieties, or with caramel or almonds), tea (oolongs, pu-erhs, senchas), coffee, garlic, cream cheese, sourdough toast, scrambles & omelets, breakfast sandwiches, cheese, hot sauce, thai curries, mint chocolate chip ice cream, coconut milk ice cream, whiskey/scotch, super veggie burritos (yes, I'm veggie).
The six things I could never do without
chocolate, dancing, trees, beauty, something to learn & hugs
I spend a lot of time thinking about
our wanton destruction of the environment and ways in which we can curb it, efficiency in design, beauty, how humans behave and why ...
On a typical Friday night I am
out dancing. (This is also true of most other nights of the week)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I dropped out of Caltech... twice. My majors over the years have included math, engineering, and design, but my most recent forays into institutionalized education have been linguistics-related. Yes, I was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. ;)
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi girls
  • Ages 25–39
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you want to meet up for tea or coffee.
you want to have a discussion/debate on some interesting topic.
you want to watch documentaries with me. Let's learn!
you have great ideas for adventures.
you want to go out dancing at a goth club.
you are pretty (I collect pretty people. It is nice to have eye-candy around)

... and you won't be offended if I don't reply. I am truly terrible about getting back to people. I am much better at socializing in person, but getting there is a real trick.
