I am a single mom that is recently graduated at SUNY Plattsburgh. I majored in philosophy and history, I hope to take it into a research field for historians. I have completed my history major with an extensive a research project on views seen in the NY Times, and London Times on Brazil Policies during the Paraguayan War (1865-1870). It was a lot of work, and I had fun with it. I am currently interested in pursuing my education to the next level, but find that it is not presently possible for me to do so.
Next, I love to travel, I have been to a lot of places within the United States, including Louisiana, Florida, California, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Mississippi, Maryland, and many more. I've gone down most of the east coast on road trips, I lived in San Diego, CA, and I also lived in Buffalo for a year. I've been to Tijuana, Mexico multiple times when I lived in San Diego, and had a great deal of fun. I love hanging out and I usually get along with just about everyone. Some people say I am a bit of a mutt, mostly because they are never able to classify me into one sterotype. They tell me I've got both book smarts and some street smarts; I was never really popular but I either knew everyone or they knew me, I played sports, but also partook in model united nations and other politics. I can be funny, while also being serious. I've been called a lot of things, namely a geek, nerd, prep, athlete, as well as others. I also grew up on a farm, which scares some people, although I am never quite sure why. I am looking for something serious, no flings need apply, and I would much rather be friends with someone first than to merely jump into a relationship.
With that said, my son is my world. I would like people that are interested in me to understand this. Furthermore, if you wish to plan activities with a single mother, you must understand that occassionaly those activities must be child friendly...like a walk in a park. I am not a drinker, and rarely go out to do so. Mostly I get to be DD and while that's all fun, I am not looking for someone who wants to drink every weekend. I do enjoy dancing, walking, hiking,going out to dinner learning new sports as well as playing old favorites like tennis, football, and baseball . :-D

Another important reminder about me: I am not a very physically inclined person in the ways of kissing, hugging, etc. I have my reasons for those, and if you need to ask I would happily provide you with said reasons. However, I do feel that people should slow down when they are dating. I do not wish to rush into anything, and I would much rather be friends with someone before anything else. Furthermore, ONE TWO OR THREE DATES, et cetera does not mean I know you and will just jump into bed with you. So if all you're looking for is some quick romance, look the other direction. I have more important things in my life to consider. Those things include first and foremost my son. I will not drag him in and out of relationships with me, I do not want him hurt in any way. Secondly, I just got a job working at UNO'S Chicago Grill in Plattsburgh and I although it's not what I want to do with my life, it pays the bills and puts food on the table. WARNING If you presumptiously buy tickets to some event and want someone to go with you and ask last minute, find someone else, it's too difficult to shuffle babysitting, money, etc. And finally, if you are embarrassed because you found someone online and you don't want to tell your co-workers that you met me online, or if you don't want them to find out I am a single mom, and used this site because busy people don't have the ability to just go out an meet someone, please don't write to me. I know they all sounds harsh, but I have dealt with exactly these types of people, not only on okcupid, but also in life as well.

As I stated, I currently started working at UNO's and where it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life, I figure it's a good starting point. Being a single mom, I find that my life needs to stay on track as my son is my very life, and tends to revolve around him.

I'm good at being a mom, cooking, sports in general, and unfortunately being serious a lot. I've been told I am a good singer, I have not sang in front of people in a very long time, but once in a while I do enjoy singing to my son, or to the radio.

Is my eyes, or my constant changing hair. That includes the cut, color and style. I do not really have a favorite at the moment but I tend to stay towards a dark reddish brown, and I really like short hair. Mostly so I can spike it, or put it in a mohawk, or just because it stays out of my eyes. :-D

My favorite genre of books leads towards romance, mystery, true stories, and old classics. I do not currently have a favorite book in itself, but if I start to read a trilogy or saga I have to finish them pretty much back to back. I am too impatient to wait for the next ones to come out. I pretty much like all books as long as they have a good plot line to it. I love country music, but I do listen to a wide variety of different types of music other than country. Classic, classic rock, metal, and some pop...a very minimal amount of it anyway.. I do not however like rap, no not even the old school stuff. And when it comes to food, I love a lot of different dishes, and I'll try anything once. I mainly have dishes or foods that I hate, such as shrimp, any meat that is not cooked all the way, I dislike chicken marsala I think it's disgusting, fast food, and frozen food are also not very high on my list of things to eat.
I do not tend to watch a lot of TV, but when I do, I try to catch NCIS, and a few other odd shows. Movies are alright, however I have not been to the movies in a while. I prefer action movies, and drama's over horror movies any day, and I guess comedies are alright, as long as they are not stupid comedies. I like my movies to take off right away. If they don't I become bored and go find something else that generally has to be done like vaccumming or dishes, or something like that.

my job, and my son generally take up so much of my time, that I don't have the time to think. But when I do, I guess I think about what I want to do for my next research project, or a fun project for myself and my son to do.

I generally work Friday nights, Saturday nights, and Sunday nights, and every other night of the week that's not Wed., as I do not have a babysitter for Wed. night.

I have a 45% hearing loss, and i don't wear hearing aids. I am pretty much an open book, there are some things that I do feel to be private, and I'm not willing to let people know about, but you would have to ask to find out.

you find anything interesting and are looking for friendship, or a long term relationship. But, only if you like children as I have a little boy who is my very life.
