My self-summary
The pressure...

I'm originally from the Midwest and while I haven't lived there for over 10 years, I'm an Indiana girl at heart.
I moved to DC three years ago after five years of exploring the world. In this past life - I lived for extended periods of time in Central America, West Africa and Australia. A global perspective and worldview are important to me. While most days I miss my adventures abroad, I'm happy to be closer to family and good friends.
I moved back for my job, but the fall leaves have kept me here. I do miss the hot summers of the tropics.
I am good company, funny, positive, and kind. I take life seriously, but not myself - I'm the first one to laugh and can handle a good joke. I am the oldest of four children and play the role of eldest child quite well. I love to tell a story and have strong opinions, but can keep them to myself if company requires.
I love a day trip to the Shenandoah, dinner on 14th street, playing tour guide to visitors, or a cheeky beer on H Street.
I love reading the Sunday paper and drinking coffee all day. If I lived closer to family, I'd do the crossword puzzle with my dad every weekend.
What I’m doing with my life
Generally trying to be "better at life," but I'm assuming that is not the type of answer that is requested. I moved to DC three years ago for work and have loved exploring the city. I work in international migration and provide technical support to a large portfolio of programs. I love my job and travel a lot for work. Traveling for work makes it difficult to make DC "home" - but I try!
I’m really good at
I'm really good at telling stories.
I'm also really good at logistics. I love planning events, trips, parties, dinners - you name it!
I'm the go to person for problem solving and creative solutions.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Where to begin...
Books - Mostly non-fiction these days. I have a pile of Economist magazines sitting on a coffee table that I hope to soon read. They are making me feel guilty about doing anything else and stare me down every evening - they will win soon I'm sure. I like a good travel guide or travel memoir. For fiction - nothing better than a long Russian novel - Brothers Karamazov is hard to beat. Also like East of Eden and any Steinbeck, Zeitoun and all Dave Eggers, Confederacy of Dunces, Shantaram, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, and 100 Years of Solitude will never be far from my bookshelf.
Shows - I don't actively watch much tv and I hate sitcoms because of the laugh tracks (frustrating). I'll occasionally choose to watch things like Modern Family, 30 Rock or Parks and Recreation, but normally on Netflix or my Roku. I do watch PBS and HBO shows, somewhat in spite of myself.

Movies - I like them, the good and the bad. If it is really bad I fall asleep, but a nap is always nice too.

Food - love to explore new restaurants - Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, Central American are my favorites!
The six things I could never do without
1. Sunday paper
2. Coffee
3. Trips home for Thanksgiving
4. Smart Trip Card
5. Seltzer Water
6. My smart phone - I hate to admit it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to continue to challenge myself and how to do the most good. I also spend lots of time grappling with the internal pain I feel when I miss the H3 bus and have to take the H4. I want to be a good person, but sometimes certain bus routes make it hard.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out to dinner with friends, followed by a few drinks.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't share things on the internet..oh, wait.
