I am considerate, active, and fun.
My Self-Summary
I’m a laid-back guy with a very wide variety of interests. Lately
my curiosity has led me to take on a class in small engine repair.
I grew up in a small town in
Michigan (this is where I point to a
spot on my hand like it’s a map) and went to
Michigan State University where I
earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
I feel extremely lucky right now. I love my job (I’m an engineer
working for a great company), I recently purchased my first house
(interior decoration tips are always welcome), and I have
supportive network of great friends.
I am very close with my family. Someday, with the right person, I
would like to start a family of my own, and I want to meet someone
with similar values.
I like to get outside and do active things when I can. Whether it’s
throwing a
football, playing
tennis or
golf,
kayaking, or just going for a
walk, if the weather is nice I
like to get out and do something. When it's time to relax, TV or a
movie is a great way to unwind.
I have several passions in life. One is
music. My dad is a music professor who
helped me to develop an appreciation for music when I was young. He
got me involved in learning several musical instruments, and I
still play the
piano
regularly. Another passion of mine is
traveling. I love seeing new places
and learning a little about the history and culture of an area. I
was fortunate enough to have a college education that allowed me to
study abroad in 3 different countries:
Australia,
Italy, and
Belgium, and as a result I think I have
developed a more global perspective. A third passion of mine is
sports. As I
mentioned before, I like participating in activities that get me
moving around, and I enjoy having an excuse to let out some
friendly competitive energy or go watch a game.
What I’m doing with my life
I have spent the last few years putting focus on my career. This
has been rewarding since I really enjoy my job and found that there
is always something new to learn. I recently bought a house and
have been taking on the challenges associated with that, such as
installing hardwood floors, replacing appliances, etc… In my free
time I have done some traveling to see friends. Since I have only
been living in the Cincinnati area for a couple years and have been
focused on work, I am now working on expanding my social network
and hope to meet someone special.
I’m really good at
I am good at keeping perspective on the things that matter and the
things that don't. I very rarely get angry, because most of the
little annoying things that happen in life just aren't worth
getting angry over. On a related subject, I am good at making the
best of any situation and generally enjoying whatever I am
doing.
Since I am an engineer, I am good at understanding math and science
related topics. I know how a lot of mechanical things work.
I am also good at playing the piano. I try to memorize my favorite
songs and figure out the notes on my own.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably the first things that people would notice about me are my
wavy hair, my smile, my Michigan accent (whatever that is), and my
thoughtful nature.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I don't read a lot of books, but I am finishing "The Elegant
Universe," which is a little nerdy. Mostly I read car magazines. My
favorite movies include just about all of Tim Burton's movies. Epic
movies like "Pirates of the Caribbean" are great, too. I am a huge
lover of all foods. Italian is my favorite, but I really like
trying new foods and new restaurants.
The six things I could never do without
I really don't need a whole lot of things around me to be happy,
but here goes. I couldn't do without the support of my family and
friends. It would be hard to live in a world without music. I've
lived without a car before, but it would be really hard to lose
that personal freedom now. When my water heater recently broke I
had to live without hot showers for a week, so I know that it is
something I can't do without. Electricity would be almost
impossible to live without. I can't imagine having to do everything
by candle light after the sun sets. Finally, I couldn't live
without pancakes. Man, I love those things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about my projects, goals, and
vacation plans. I daydream about places I'd like to go and figure
out when I can go there. I also think about songs I am writing.
On a typical Friday night I am
On a typical Friday night I am meeting up with friends to go to
dinner, followed by going to a few bars and/or a movie. After
working hard all week I need some play time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
My views are on the liberal side, and in Cincinnati I feel like I
am really outnumbered.
You should message me if
You should message me if you think we share some things in common.
I am a very open person who likes meeting people. It would be nice
to have a new friend even if we don’t develop a romantic
relationship.
