My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like details and calculated vagaries. A strangely large number of my friends are theatre people, so I've gotten to really like live theatre. A not so strangely large number are foodies, so I've gotten to enjoy really nice restaurants. I love music, and I make it whenever I get the chance, but I'm not especially talented.

If I had more talent, I’d love to be a writer or musician; I’m probably not in grad school yet because I wanted time to pretend that I'm this guy:

Instead I spent a few years teaching myself Russian, and now I'm picking up pre-reqs to apply for a grad program in psychology. Nothing is scarier to me than boredom, so I'm hoping research will be able keep my mind occupied.

Мне бы уметь петь таким голосом: Он словно вымочен в бочке с бурбоном, его будто оставили в коптильне на несколько месяцев, а затем, когда достали, проехались по нему.

Someday I'd like to be paid for my panache.

I used to spend a lot of time in the gym, but not having access to one for a year got me into bodyweight workouts. I'm working at being able to do a full planche within two years. Gyms are for chumps and underwear models, as it turns out.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Forgetting, and trying to stay sharp. Learning languages, trying to keep up on my reading list, doing sit-ups randomly. I'm persistent. I keep dreaming of a job that involves more travel than being a psych professor would.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
asking good questions. active listening.

also, making the weaker argument the stronger.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I’m tall. I’m very specific. I'm having a good hair day. Often in that order.

Books: I like everything about books. Sometimes I’ll buy a suboptimal translation simply because it has a fantastic binding. Example: I bought the Everyman's Library edition of Rawlinson's Herodotus, despite the fact that said translator footnoted Herodotus' very acute conjecture that the Pythia was on drugs with the learned observation that no less an authority than the Apostle Paul had thrown a demon out of a later Pythia, thus proving that her oracles had been real visions seen by the power of the devil. But the cover was so purty. Pride & Prejudice and Tom Sawyer might be the only books I’ve read more than twice in my life.

Movies: I really like westerns (Once Upon a Time in the West), kid movies (Ice Age, Fantastic Mr. Fox), and classics (His Girl Friday, On the Waterfront). Also Interstellar, Warrior, and The Dark Knight.

Music: short answer, yes. Longer answer, soul, funk, pop, jazz, country, hip-hop, classical, blues, folk, etc. Some favorites are Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Wilco, Charles Mingus, Lee Morgan's trumpet solo on Moanin', Art Farmer, The Beatles, Lupe Fiasco, Parliament/Funkadelic, Michael Jackson, Prince, Brother Ali, Sly & The Family Stone, Howlin' Wolf, Fela Kuti, Isaac Albeniz, Arvo Part, Gyorgi Ligeti, Gregg Brown, Animal Collective, Harry Nilsson, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, and Paul Simon. ДДТ, Аквариум, Браво, Цои, Ночные Снайперы, Машина Времени, Ольга Арефьева, Пикник, Пилот, Сергей Бабкин, Чайф, Пелагая, Сектор Газа

Food: slow.
