My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm an intellectually curious guy with a good, albeit odd, sense of humor. Avid reader, voracious consumer of music and movies, gamer, and bit of a comedy nerd. I'm also a recreational hockey player and passionate fan, and not just of the NHL, but the sport in general.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently work for the Postal Service, but recently started getting serious about writing again, and trying to play hockey at least twice a week.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Um, I'm probably best at running my mouth. Had a really bad stutter growing up, and ever since it went away I've been making up for lost time. Also equally good at listening. I have an uncanny knack for remembering conversations.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Probably the glasses. Anything really close to my eyes freaks me out, so I can't really do contacts.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Pretty much everything by Nick Hornby. The Day of the Locust, Catcher in the Rye and Animal Farm, and The God Delusion. Also a fan of the headier science fiction like Brave New World, Vonnegut, or most of Philip K Dick's work. Currently reading A Song of Ice and Fire, and absolutely loved A Storm of Swords.

Movies: Not much for horror, but other than that I try to watch everything. Doesn't matter if its big budget major studio, indie or foreign. Right now my favorite directors are Wes Anderson, Guy Ritchie, and Tarantino. Also I tend to watch comedies over and over more so than dramas, particularly darker comedies. Put Nick Frost next to Simon Pegg, and guarantee I'll watch the movie.

Shows: All time favorite is Mr. Show. Current favorite is A Game of Thrones. Also Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Community, New Girl, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.

Music: My staples are The Beatles, The Tragically Hip, The Clash, Fugazi, Nine Inch Nails, and Neko Case. Pretty much listen to everything. I don't know if there's a genre without at least one artist/band I like in it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My cat (more than a "thing" but I'm counting her), hockey, books, movies, music, and a laptop with internet access.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Pretty much everything. I have a very active inner dialogue.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If I don't have any plans to go out with friends, usually just something quiet like catch a movie, read a book, or fire up the Xbox if any of my buddies are online. I work Saturdays, so I seldom stay out late on Fridays.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Sometimes I talk to my cat. Not in English, in cat.

You're someone smart and quirky who likes to laugh, and is looking for an intelligent conversation. Also being a reader is a major plus, and if you talk hockey you get a million bonus points.
