I am doing, saying, and playing.

My Self-Summary

I'm a starry-eyed kid from the suburbs getting a taste of living in the city.
I'm a natural adventurer and I'm attracted to the bustle of downtown life because there is just so much. !
I feel like we're on this earth to live life to the fullest and I try to make every day worthwhile, either with small things or big things. My mission in life is to really understand what people are all about, and hopefully communicate my true self to other people, so that they can understand me.
Human connection is what we're all here for, right?

What I’m doing with my life

I'm doing a few different things right now. I'm working full-time as an analyst while I take night classes at U of T - next year I'll be switching to full-time class and part-time work. I can't wait to get started for reals, having just finished a few years of college for music production.

I also run an independent recording studio out of my extra bedroom, where I produce songs that friends of mine come to me with. I'm going public, though - anyone feel like helping me with flyer designs? :)

I'm new to Toronto so I'm really looking to get involved in interesting things. My housemate is an amazing cinematographer studying at Ryerson film school and I like to help him out with his movies as much as I can. For Nuit Blanche I threw a party where we had a 14' sheet of canvas and painted a huge tapestry together. BUT! I still feel socially disconnected downtown - most of the friends I hang out with are from my hometown. I just need some guideposts to help me find the right people.

I’m really good at

I really love listening to other people, feeling my internal emotional clock tick from confusion to understanding when they reveal that one thing I hadn't quite grasped. I suppose I'm not that close with people who aren't open. I like to talk about how I feel and some people are just not on that wavelength.
I love to sing and play music. When I play I try to play something that doesn't sound like anything else. That's hard. If I can't hit that target I'll just try to play something upbeat and ambient. That's kind of a contradiction in terms but it's fun to try.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm very light-hearted (as long as you don't catch me when I haven't had enough sleep) and I love to go with strange ideas that people have. Throw something crazy out there and if there's even a quarter of it that makes sense I'll be right beside you to try and make it happen.
I can be hurt by negative or hostile people. Maybe not hurt, but at least alienated.
When I have a lot of people over I get really busy keeping track of everything and making sure everyone's having a good time. People think I'm stressed but when things are going well I'm in the zone. I love seeing the people I love enjoying themselves.
When I'm having a good time I get really, really energetic. As in breaking into a run until I can't breathe, as in dancing until my limbs are falling off, as in keeping that conversation alive to see the sun come up, and these are the moments that really stick with me.
I'm a novice cook and I have a tendency to badger my guests into eating food I've made... how else will people learn the wu-tang secret of vegetarian ground "beef"? (Seriously it's good.)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I dunno, but today I read David Byrne's Bicycle Diaries, watched Apollo 13, listened to Neu! and ate pesto fusilli. mmmm~

Okay I'm writing here again. Today I read the new Maile Meloy, watched baz luhrmann's R + J, listened to the knife and ate dumpling + fried tofu red curry on rice noodles. It's the one sauce I can make from scratch :)

The six things I could never do without

my amazing friends, my family, my voice, my ideas, my books, and a well-lived life to fit them all into.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

how to sort out all the crazy issues on this planet, to at least be able to rationalize everything in my own head. I'm an annoying hippie about a lot of things especially race, gender, and sexuality politics. I think the rich don't do enough to help out the poor and that they throw up a lot of smokescreens to make it look like they do.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either out or having a get-together at my house. We go to karaoke sometimes. Other times we go nuts in my studio. My crew rolls deep.
