My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I always have a hard time filling these out, so here's a couple of (hopefully) interesting facts:

I've lived in Texas my whole life, but I like to travel. I love to snowboard and make sure to hit the slopes at least once or twice a season. Planning a couple of upcoming trips in February and March.
I like college football (Hook 'em!) but apart from that, I'd rather be playing sports than watching them. I like running, and I play Ultimate Frisbee with friends or with Dallas Ultimate Association. Really, if the weather is nice, I prefer to be out of the house rather than in it, and since my job requires me to be at a desk all day, I spend a couple of Saturdays a month volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
I also have the most awesome dog in the world (you may think yours is better, but no, mine is). She's a mutt and she only has one emotion - happy - so she suits me very well. It's probably because she's not smart enough to have any other emotions, but she gets along great with people and dogs so she's an excellent companion!
I feel like I'm a pretty laid back guy. My job is fairly demanding and hectic, and I really thrive in that environment, but I try to leave as much of that as possible at the office. So when I can, I prefer low-stress, fairly casual affairs - I prefer bars to clubs, and good music and good conversation to movies or television, though I can appreciate these last two from time to time.
I'm also thinking about getting involved in community theater around the area - I was in a few plays in high school and college, but I haven't done anything in a couple of years and I'm starting to miss it.
Oh and board games - love 'em. Lots of fun, good way to spend time with friends, and I'm always on the lookout for new ones.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work for a start-up financial services firm in Dallas. It's really challenging, interesting stuff, and I enjoy it more and more every week, but it's not the most exciting topic in the world to discuss. But my coworker and my boss are great, and it has a ton of growth potential - basically it's awesome.

Also, I spend a lot of time at the dog park or out at the frisbee field, meeting people and having a good time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
telling stories at parties and gatherings that people seem to enjoy. I wouldn't say I'm the life of the party, but things are always quieter if I'm not around.
I feel like I empathize well with other people - which is certainly not to say that I'm perfect, but I really do try to go out of my way to understand where people are coming from.
The first things people usually notice about me

I talk a lot. I also really enjoy discussing, and often debating, just about anything and everything with whoever is around, so my willingness to discuss politics/religion/social psychology/etc. usually stands out to people since those are sometimes considered taboo subjects for a lot of people.

I feel like these lists could become quite exhaustive, so I tried to be brief. Just know that in each case it's brief overview.

Books - Ender's Game, Harry Potter, Hunger Games American/world history books and biographies, books on physics and astronomy (at least, the ones that are understandable to a novice)

Movies - Star Wars, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller, 12 Angry Men, 10 Things I Hate About You, Empire Records, Little Miss Sunshine, Contact, Snatch, Donnie Darko, A Knight's Tail, Wall-E, Up, The Big Lebowski.... I'm all over the board. I like just about everything, if I can be convinced to sit still and watch. Only thing I don't care for is mindless action films. Die Hard = great! Olympus Has Fallen = I'd rather be shot myself.

TV - Doctor Who, Scrubs, Archer, How I Met Your Mother, Futurama, Ugly Americans, The Daily Show, How It's Made, Walking Dead, Cosmos, South Park, Modern Marvels, Dexter, Veronica Mars

Music - I could be hear listing bands forever. In brief, mostly rock, especially classic rock (Hendrix, Beatles, Stones), with a lot of 90's alternative and modern indie rock as well. My favorite band is Anberlin, and if you know who they are - bonus points. Also some rap, 60's era rhythm-and-blues along with some Motown, a very limited selection of country (read: Johnny Cash and Kenny Chesney), a smattering of techno, probably some other things as well.

Food - Just about everything, except fish - I particularly like spicy food, notably Thai
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
This section seems so cliche so I'm repurposing it - so instead I present Six Things I Have/Need That Might Help Define Me

On a typical Friday night I am

I usually go out with friends or am resting up before Habitat the following morning.

You think we have something in common and you have something interesting to say.

Note: alcoholics need not apply. Tried this once, did not work. We can be friends, but more than that, I just don't see happening. If you like to drink a lot, no problem - if you NEED to drink, that's where I have issues.
