I am bewitched, bothered, and bewildered.
My Self-Summary
First things first, my name is Sophia, I'm 22, and I live in El
Paso, Texas. I like to think that I am a pretty rad person, but
that is up for you to decide. I am on a one-woman mission to bring
the word "rad" back. I own too many cardigans and read too many
blogs. I'm a [music, anime, sci-fi, theatre, literary, historical,
political] nerd, but I don't let it define me. I don't trust people
who don't have a favorite president or who own anything with Betty
Boop on it. I value being genuinely nice over a lot of things. I
love boys who dress well and girls with freckles!
I am bad at replying to e-mails (not just on here, but in general),
for which I apologize. To be fair, I get a lot of shitty emails! I
can't guarantee you a reply, but indicating that you've actually
read my profile and engaging me in conversation is a good start.
"lol ur hot, wassup?" is not.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm back in school, bitches! I took a semester off for personal
reasons, but it made me realize how badly I do not want to work
retail for the rest of my life, so I'm giving school another go. My
goal for the near future (as in, like, this year) is finish my
Bachelor's (English Lit, holla!), get out of El Paso, and go to
grad school. Something like that, at least.
I’m really good at
Baking. Making collages. Making mix cds. Cursing. Getting good
grades on papers that are 99% bullshit.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I straight up do not give a damn.
(Yes I do.)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books are my favorite things ever. Recently I have been reading a
lot of Michael Chabon. My favorite English department approved book
is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. I love The Bell Jar by
Sylvia Plath, and The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger because I
am predictable. I love Harry Potter, Douglas Adams, and Neil Gaiman
because I am a nerd. I also read a lot of non-fiction and short
stories. I enjoy a good poem every now and again.
I am not a big movie person. My favorites from 2009 so far are
Doubt, Up, Star Trek, Away We Go, and (500) Days Of Summer. Mean
Girls and Romy + Michelle's High School Reunion are two of my
favorites, which I realize gives me no street cred. To make up for
it, I also enjoyed Kill Bill, Marie Antoinette, Lost in Translation
and Secretary. X-men and Harry Potter round out the list.
Music is my second favorite, after books. The Smiths and Morrissey
are (collectively) my number one love. After that comes Rilo Kiley,
then Fall Out Boy. I am really obsessive about music, and will
listen to the same song over and over and over again. The most
played song on my itunes is I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me by Annie,
but on my last.fm (dandywolves, check it out) it's Age of Consent
by New Order. I also love Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Lady Gaga,
Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, Panic at the Disco, and The Pipettes. I am
an enormous musical theatre nerd.
I love to eat sandwiches of all sorts, cheeses of all sorts (even
though I am lactose-intolerant, ALAS), cereal, and cupcakes. My
favorite non-alcoholic drink is Coke, and my favorite alcoholic
drink is anything that tastes good and gets the job done.
Most people would say I watch too much tv. Currently, my viewing
habits include The Office, 30 Rock, Community, The Soup, Heroes,
Gossip Girl, Glee, Degrassi, and Parks & Recreation. Other
perennial classic include Arrested Development, Futurama, American
Idol, True Blood, Veronica Mars, and Firefly.
The six things I could never do without
Feminism, Coca-Cola, books, airplanes (although if something was
invented that was more convenient OR less awful, I would gladly
drop them), a soft blanket, and a good pillow.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I would do if I was at school and there was a nuclear
attack.
Also Bobby Fischer.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home watching tv or working, usually. I'm kind of a homebody,
and I'd much rather hang out with friends in a low key enviroment
than go to a club or a party or whatever. If I do go out, usually
it's something like hanging out at someone's house and drinking,
watching a movie, sitting in Village Inn until 2AM, etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I have an un-ironic love for Ryan Seacrest.
You should message me if
You are a cute boy who wants to have ridiculous adventures with
me.
Also, if you look like Ryan Adams (or you are Ryan Adams because
obviously he uses internet dating sites), fuckin' hit me up. We can
work something out.
You probably should not message me if you are a creeper, because I
get enough of that shit as it is.
