I am gentle, caring, and optimistic.

My Self-Summary

First, the bad news:
- I'm married. I hope to be divorced in a few months.
- I'm not interested in steamy hot sex. There's nothing wrong with me (honest!), that's just not where my head is at these days. When I meet the right woman, I WILL be interested in touching, cuddling, sleeping together, and making love, gently. (See my journal entry about karezza.)

I also don't want any more kids (hopefully that's good news to the right woman). I have two wonderful, grown kids. I just don't want to do the child-rearing thing any more. (Note: That is NOT meant to turn away women who have children still living with them. I'm quite willing to live with kids and even take care of them at times. I just don't want to be the enforcer of discipline, nor to make important decisions that affect their lives.)

What I'm looking for:
A lifelong partner. Marriage is optional.
Someone who can accept me the way I am (not try to fix me).
Someone who I would feel safe and comfortable talking with.
Someone who enjoys physical affection and intimacy.
Age is not important, but emotional maturity is.
Race is not important.
A college degree is not important, but intelligence is highly valued.
Lots of bonus points if you're an engineer, scientist or other sort of techie, a professor, or a musician!

A bit more about me:

I'm fairly cheerful most of the time, and I think most people would say that I'm pleasant, helpful, and easy to get along with. I'm a peacemaker; I really dislike conflict.

I'm very healthy. My parents are still alive and active at 86 and 88 years old. Based on the longevity of my parents and grandparents, I expect to live another 30 years at least. (And I believe loving companionship increases longevity. Oxytocin is good for us.)

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to make a living doing the things I like: computer programming and designing electronics.

Trying to make the world a better place through various types of political activism. For example, I promote Approval Voting (approvalvoting.org). I advocate for smaller, less expensive, less intrusive government.

Trying to become more "well-rounded," developing some people skills, not being so much just a computer geek.

I’m really good at

The first things people usually notice about me

I haven't asked, and people don't usually tell me, but someone recently said I have a nice smile.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Lots of technical books...

Some Chinese and Indonesian music

The six things I could never do without

Air, food, water, shelter.
A loving companion that I could enjoy going home to.
Computers.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Work.
Politics, how to solve the world's problems.
How to solve other people's problems (IF they are open to suggestions).
How to solve my own problems.
(That was in order of increasing difficulty :-)

On a typical Friday night I am

In front of the computer, on the internet.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I haven't had sex with another person for six years. I miss the snuggling and sleeping together more than the sex.

You should message me if

You want to know more about me. Or you have a comment about my profile.

You don't need to be interested in me as a possible romantic partner. I _am_ looking for a new life partner, however I'm also happy to make new friends or email pals.
