I am envious of hippies, comedians, and small children.

My Self-Summary

I have always said 'never say never' and that I will try anything once (yep, anything!), so I moved to Texas nearly four years ago (Austin about a year ago). I love to travel - used to live in China and most recently spent time in Morocco, Turkey, and El Salvador. At heart, I'm a huge nerd - like, Chess Club nerd (well, maybe not Chess Club, but close). I love museums (but am not big on lingering), wine (pinot grigio!), proper grammar & spelling (it's/its and there/their kind of stuff), being inspired, reading great books, getting my nails done, etc.

What I’m doing with my life

I am a management consultant. I love my job - it is time-consuming, exhausting, frustrating, nerve-wracking, and totally awesome. I specialize in public education systems; basically I am trying to make public education better. Looks like I'll be here for a while..... plenty to do.

I’m really good at

Being lazy and unproductive. Skiing. Shopping. Remembering things that are important. Listening. Cooking risotto. Making powerpoint slides. Finding Starbuckses. Adding integers. Solving problems. Driving long distances. Identifying the next step. Being snarky! Also self-mockery.....

I'm really terrible at anything having to do with technology or requiring patience. Also once I was trying to navigate myself and a co-worker around St Louis, Missouri and got us lost and halfway back to Kansas City so I'm probably also not very good with maps.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have been told I have a cute smile. Oddly, the first person who told me this was my best friend's dad in sixth grade and the most recent person who told me that was my ex.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I'm currently reading "The Hakawati" by Rabith Alameddine... I try to read the New Yorker and Harpers though as we speak I am a bit behind....

I listen to everything except jazz, which for some reason stresses me out. As for favorite artists - hip hop is Kool Keith, indie is a tossup between Liz Phair and Modest Mouse, metal is Clutch, country is Robert Earl Keen or Cory Morrow. But recently I've really been into the National and Masonic....

I'm into movies of all kinds (except for horror) though I literally can never remember their names. Also, although I will sit through anything (the only movie I've ever walked out of is the one by the guy who did Requiem for a Dream and had the guy who ate tree bark in his pajamas), it's highly likely that I will cry at stupid stuff in movies; it's the risk you run :)

I love oysters. Also broccolini. Other random things - 1) I don't drink soda (can't stand the bubbles) and 2) 99% of the time I would rather go hungry than eat fast food.

The six things I could never do without

Humor

Oops, that's seven.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

How to make the world a better place. How much sleep I'll get. How to be a good leader. Whether I've accidentally left dry cleaning at the dry cleaning place.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

There's a little thing called imagination....

You want to, of course....
