My self-summary
I like a lot of the same things any other person does, such as watching movies, eating tasty food, hanging out with friends, etc. I tend towards some artistically-oriented hobbies, although I haven't spent much time on these lately. I used to draw a lot. I play the piano some and really enjoy it, even though I just dabble. I like laughing a lot. In fact, I am laughing right now, even while typing this.

On the other hand, I like some nerdy things that are sometimes not as relatable to many people. Some examples of things I'm interested in along these lines are mathematics, science, technology, and languages. I guess you could summarize this by saying I like to learn.

Unfortunately, many of my interests are pretty time-consuming. I think I would need four or five lives to pursue them all to the extent that I really want to. I only have the one life, so I am pretty much doomed to permanent dilettante status for most of these things.

There's more I could say, but there's only so much you can get from these internet autobiographies. I guess you'll just have to get in touch with me in order to learn that all I've written to this point is a lie and my only real hobbies are eating waffles and watching the boxed set of "Unsolved Mysteries" - usually at the same time.
What I’m doing with my life
I used to work as an electrical engineer, but a few years ago I decided to go to graduate school in a somewhat related field to try to work on something I was more interested in. I'm close to finishing now, so a lot of my life is involved with wrapping that up. I've really enjoyed my time in school and learned a lot of great things, but I'm looking forward to being done with it and doing whatever follows.

Outside of that I mostly just do relaxing things like watch videos on Netflix, mess around with some of my hobbies, play video games, and so on. Lately I've been trying to get back into the habit of exercising regularly. I've also recently become more interested in going out, having some drinks, etc., as I've not allowed much time for that the past few years in school.

I have a personal website that I put some projects, drawings, etc., onto, although I haven't updated it in a while:

I’m really good at
I'm not arrogant enough to answer this question.
The first things people usually notice about me
When I meet someone new, their usual response is to shine a blacklight on me. They're often surprised to find out that I am immune to ultraviolet rays and look exactly the same as I would had they put me underneath a fluorescent lamp.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I haven't read many fiction books recently, but some books I've enjoyed in the past were books from The Saga of Fire & Ice (Game of Thrones, etc.), Between the Bridge and the River, and Choke. I'll occasionally read "classics" that I've never read before.

In no particular order, some movies I like are Fight Club, Hot Fuzz, The Truman Show, Rounders, Secretary, Drive, Donnie Darko, WALL-E, Batman Begins, Cabin in the Woods, Office Space. I tend to like lots of movies, even those that are kind of bad.

TV Shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, The Twilight Zone, Spaced, Trigun, Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, Party Down, Cowboy Bebop, The Boondocks, Family Guy, Psych, Louie, Veronica Mars. Comments similar to what I said for movies apply.

Music: John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson, Bobby Timmons, Benny Green, Ray Bryant, etc. I also like various amateur musicians from the internet, such as this guy who calls himself Shnabubula. There are some more familiar folks I like such as Ben Folds, Beck, Tupac, whatever.

Food: I like almost anything. Some favorites are sushi, Mexican, Thai, Chinese, eggs, breakfast food, and sandwiches.
The six things I could never do without
1) Earth
2) Fire
3) Wind
4) Water
5) Heart
6) The smug sense of satisfaction I get by not answering this question seriously.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- How to spend my free time / prioritize my interests.
- How to remember things that I want to think more about later.
- Mathematics.
- Absurd scenarios that make me laugh.
On a typical Friday night I am
The same thing I'm doing any other night, only drinking heavily so I'll feel like I fit in with everyone else.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My social security number is 450-87-1267.

I'm going to be honest with you here, and admit to you that this is not my social security number. If you were born somewhere in Texas, there's a small chance it's yours, and I'm sure you're pretty scared. Don't worry, I just made it up.
You should message me if
- You think I might be cool and want to find out if you're right.
- You know I'm cool, but want to make sure I'm not cooler than you are because you're sensitive about this.
- You think I'm uncool and want to knock me off my high horse.
- You're angry at my overuse of the word "cool".

In the unlikely case that you are totally unconcerned with matters relating to how cool I am, then you can also message me for whatever other reason.
