What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm am in a PhD program that bridges chemistry and education. I spend my days thinking about what needs to change in science education so that all students have equal opportunity to learn and engage with science. I have the privilege of both teaching chemistry and helping pre-service science teachers expand their race and class consciousness.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I lived in the Bronx I got a lot of: "Hey, mami - do you wear contacts?" I took this to mean people notice my blue eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Oh books, how do I love thee: Gilead (Marilynne Robinson is my favorite!), The brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, The Absolutely True Diaries of a Part Time Indian, The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay,

Shows? I'm a little late on the bandwagon but I've just discovered Breaking Bad and I'm hooked.

Movies: Harold and Maude (I mean, seriously, who doesn't love movies about old ladies that meet young men at funerals?)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Six? Why is OK Cupid so demanding? I'll give you three.
1) Dear friends
2) The outdoors! I love adventure and my heart sings when I'm backpacking.
3) Coffee (this might pale in comparison to the first, but still an essential piece of my life.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Two overarching themes seem to occupy my brain space these days: 1) What it means to love God and love people well, to do justice and love mercy, and 2) race, class and privilege
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
...usually drinking and eating with friends
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

In middle school I made a bone knife (that's right, a knife carved from a bone), which I may or may not still have in my possession.
