dry, dusty, and deadly
My self-summary Propose an edit
Hey there. I'm Erehwon71. Some people call me...
Jeff.
I've come to hate this section of the essays. It's like in job
interviews when they ask what your strengths and weaknesses are.
Once I actually said, "not knowing how to answer those two
questions." Surprisingly enough, I didn't get that one...
To be crystal clear, I am looking for neither a quick hookup, nor a
relationship based on anything other than friendship. I'm simply
here to to find friends, taking fun(lately inane)tests, and for
reading profiles, which I've become addicted to. Sorry, I blame
Myspace for that.
Bastard.
So, if I message you, or stalk your page, or heaven forbid, IM you,
you can feel safe in the assumption I want nothing more than
friendship. I'm done with anything more than platonic relationships
for the foreseeable future.
I love dogs, and
curiously enough, cats. They love you unconditionally (no,
I'm really not bitter. Ok, maybe just a little ;)). I have what I
think is the sweetest dog in the world, Elphy (Elphaba), a bogle
that I adopted from the county shelter, and the newest member of
the Erehwon71 household, BB, a 7-8 month old Great Pyrenees.
FYI, I have absolutely no respect for people who operate puppy mills, nor for
pet stores that get their dogs from them. While I can't fault you
if you have unknowingly bought a puppy of questionable origin, if
you are considering bring home a new forever friend, I encourage
you, no I beg you to browse www.petfinder.com, or to at
least give your local animal shelter, Humane Society, or ASPCA a
call before you make your final decision.
*climbs down from soapbox
I enjoy acting in, working tech for, and directing community
theatre. I especially like running the sound board, just in case
you were wondering, and I know you were. Every Sunday, and
occasionally during the week, I can be found working in the sound
booth at my church.
I have a passion for all genres of music, most movies, and for
going to wineries. Occasionally, I like camping, too.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
Re-inventing it. Again. *sigh
Working for the Y.
Developing enough self-discipline needed to meditate without my
mind wandering.
Finishing the bachelors degree (B.S.- Human Services) that I
started 18 years ago.
Teaching myself to play guitar for the umpty-ninth time. It's not
going so well. Apparently, you have to physically be in contact
with it to cause it to make a sound.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Listening,
Getting sucked in when rehabilitating computers,
Fostering dogs,
Playing trivia games,
Losing myself in a good book,
Driving fast and eating cheese.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
My eyes, my hair, and my laugh.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
Authors: David Sedaris, Piers Anthony, Wayne Dyer, Anne McCaffrey,
J.K. Rowling, Eckhart Tolle, Charles Fillmore, Naomi Novik, Wil
Wheaton, Terry Brooks, Donald J. Sobol, Victor Appleton, Robert
Asprin, Eric Butterworth, H. Emilie Cady, Jon Mundy, Catherine
Ponder, Eric Brayden.
Movies: Ben Hur is by far my favorite. John Hughes movies, Coen
brothers movies, most movies with John Cusack in them, and any
movie starring Jackie Chan (I'll watch Rush Hour and its sequels
out of sympathy for Jackie. Also, if it weren't for the simple fact
Jessica Love Hewitt is kinda cute, I may have lost all respect for
him over The Jacket).
That being said, I'll watch pretty much any movie, but there's no
guarantee I won't make fun of it later. Oh hell, who am I kidding?
I'll probably make fun of it while it's on...
Same way with music. My taste is very eclectic. Check out my
last.fm station if you need further proof. Also, right now I find
myself getting into alt country. XM Radio X Country is pretty cool
(said with my best Pedro voice). Wicked, Spamalot, and Avenue
Q.
Anything but chicken (long story). Apple salad WITHOUT celery.
Thai, Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian, Soul, ok pretty much any
nationality is good.
Truth be told, I'm a big fan of Bizarre Foods on the Travel
Channel. I find myself saying "I'd try that" more often then
not.
I could really go for some turkey chili, actually.
I'm rediscovering Eddie Izzard, too.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
Maslow's hierarchy of needs, but I know that's not very
interesting.
In no particular order, so please no wagering:
Music (and something to play/listen to it on)
Comfy shoes
Fall (the season)
My dogs, Elphaba (Elphy) and BB
