My self-summary
Grew up the in the Bay Area, made the jump to San Francisco for a software job a few years back. The people, the inclusiveness, the art, the variety… why didn't I move here sooner?!

I'm all about trying new things: food, music, events, exploring parts of the city, sports, whatever. You say let's go and I'll probably say "let's!" (unless sleepy. Sleepy=zombie). I feel it pays to open yourself to the possibility of experience as much as you can.

I place huge importance on honesty and openness, a chill night spent with friends, engaging myself physically, living near the ocean (dunno, being landlocked makes me antsy) and just getting out into the world.

What I’m doing with my life
Getting into motorcycles, snowboarding, cycling, poi spinning and honing my physical abilities to superhuman levels (ok, not quite that much). Parkour (on hold, knee issues), rock climbing, yoga, acrobatics... anything I can get up to that'll give me that "oh shit, did I just do that?" feeling. Other than that I'm getting myself out and about as much as possible. Live music, art shows, circus acts, hanging out with friends and roommates, dancing, exploring, going to plays/events... and so on.

I have quite a few regular things that go on in a week, so I'm usually pretty busy (in a good way!). Three friends and I go on what we've termed the Cultural Crawl: trying out a new restaurant & after dinner drinks place each week. Good way to learn the city (well, from the culinary & boozing aspect at least) and get in some good conversation.

Last couple of years have been a "do stuff I've always wanted to do" time for me: scuba diving, snow boarding, surfing, white water rafting, snorkeling, going on a cruise, feeding a kangaroo, going to Australia and New Zealand, playing a guitar and riding a motorcycle. I want to keep up this trend and explore what I can.

I’m really good at
- finding weird food. I'll always get the goat milk fig ice cream, the beef heart tartare or bone marrow appetizer over the usual stuff.
- Bouldering! (I'm up to V4s!)
- making my friends laugh
- making vicious balls of fur and claws (read, cats) like putty in my hands
- making excessive use of parenthesis

The first things people usually notice about me
The beard. And the multitude of glorious colors in it. And the fact I've developed a wise-man beard stroking habit.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Typical topics include neuroscience, Buddhism, sociology, psychology... lots of -ologies. Currently reading The Brain that Changes Itself and What the Buddha Taught.

Graphic Novels/Comics: Calvin & Hobbes, Preacher, Bone, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Fables, Y the Last Man, 100 Bullets, Cerebus

Movies: The Shawshank Redemption, 12 Monkeys, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Pan's Labyrinth, Zombieland. Movies with lots of drama, dark humor or surrealism especially appeal to me.

Music: Lots of rock and alternative stuff, though lately its just been a bunch of trip-hop (Massive Attack) and post-rock (GY!BE) off Pandora

TV Shows: Dexter, Twin Peaks, The Wire, Band of Brothers, Six Feet Under, Boardwalk Empire, Avatar, Battlestar Galactica, Heroes (Season 1!), South Park, old school Simpsons, Game of Thrones, The Daily Show

Food: I will consume all on this earth. I LOVE trying any new and different foods and I rarely eat the same thing at a restaurant twice. A few recent gastronomical explorations: Cow tongue. The texture and taste was fine, but the visual of a sliced up tongue was pretty cringeworthy. Hot grass jelly pudding. It's not that it tasted bad (it didn't actually taste much like anything) but it was the general feeling of wrongness that ensued. You know that scene from Star Wars where he felt a millionbillionwhatever voices crying out at once? Yeah like that.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Finding new things to do. What the weather's going to be like (motorcycles have their downsides...). Whether I should get a piercing or tattoo (I lurve them, but prooooobably not, I know I'm fickle). I wish I was an acrobat. Should I try out fire dancing or kickboxing?

On a typical Friday night I am
Out for a drink with friends or climbing at Mission Cliffs. I've combined the two before but I don't really recommend it.

Other than that, going to an art show or live music, or even Dharma Punx meditations. Profanity and enlightenment, all in one.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My motorcycle jacket has a Femme Fit label on it. Hey, I'm slender!

I love fire. It's hypnotic. Not setting things on fire... just... fire!

I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 23-30
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
- you actually want to meet up! I feel the quickest way to know if you hit it off with someone is to actually meet them. Email is a pretty poor way to get a sense of a person's personality.
- you're all about trying new things. Something new should be exciting and interesting, not something to be feared.
- you'd like to meet up for coffea/tea/drink/whatever.
- you want to go climbing, on a bike ride or a snow boarding trip
- you want to find out what the Cultural Crawl is all about
