My Self-Summary

I'm yet another east coast transplant who finds herself longing for the shores of Nova Scotia, especially in the summer when the humidity gets crazy here! I've been here six years, but I still don't feel like this is home yet. I love to read, and I'm just getting into writing again.

Being from the east coast has made me love water. Especially salt water. I love to swim, and would love to learn how to surf. I also kind of love rain. The best part is when I remember to bring my rainboots so I can walk through the puddles.

I have an insane amount of useless trivia crammed into my head. I'm not sure how it all got there. But it's pretty awesome, because I do really well at trivia games.

What I’m doing with my life

I currently work at in a tourism job. It's not my forever job, I haven't figured out what that will be yet. I'm sure I'll figure out what that is sometime. Until then, I'm enjoying what I do.

In my spare time, I play with a community concert band, read and bake. Ooh, and ride my really pretty bike.

I’m really good at

Well, I'm really good at baking cupcakes. Seriously. If you're looking to put on a bunch of weight I'm your gal. Or if you work out a lot and have a sweet tooth. I won't judge as long as you let me bake different things from time to time.

Also, I seem to have a talent for picking out gifts for people I don't even know. I'll agonize for quite some time for gifts for people I know, but I give great advice for gifts for other people.

I'm also pretty crafty. (Not like a fox. Like Mr. Dressup.) I make my own cards and halloween costumes.

I am also really good at organizing sheet music libraries. Seriously, there's something to soothing about putting music back in score order!

I am super good at daydreaming. Seriously, I can go from fully alert to spaced out in daydream land in 5 seconds!

Convincing my roommate to do things. Right now I pick almost all of her books, music and podcasts. I've just convinced her to try wii. She actually likes it now!

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm not really sure on that one. Maybe my freckles? I'm pretty quiet until people get to know me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite book ever is Fifth Business by Robertson Davies. I also enjoy anything by Douglas Coupland, Barbara Gowdy and Wayne Johnston. I read fiction and non-fiction, but I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of poetry. Probably due to an over-exposure to it from my first year English Class.

I don't go to the movies very often, but my favorite movies include The Princess Bride, Young Frankenstein and Clueless. I do have a bit of a weakness for the cheesy teen genre. Specifically the older ones. Like Heathers or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I might be able to still recite all the words along with Buffy.

As for music, I do enjoy a lot of the Canadian indie scene. Specifically, I really like Joel Plaskett, Land of Talk, The Awkward Stage and the New Pornographers.

As for food, I have a real sweet tooth, so baked goods (like the aforementioned cupcakes) are definitely on my list of favourites. I like a lot of other foods, but I have to admit, I do not like any kind of seafood. It's shameful, since I do come from the east coast, but it's the truth.

The six things I could never do without

It's a good thing they don't count these. This one is hard.

OK, I really like my ipod. It means I'll always have entertainment if I end up having to spend lots of time on a bus or something.

My rainboots are pretty cool. My feet stay dry when I wear them, and I get to walk through (ok, jump in) puddles when I wear them.

My flute. My dad bought it for me at a pawn shop when I was ten, and it turned out to be a pretty good one. Since my dad died a few years ago, it's something nice to remember him by.

I'm having a hard time thinking of others right now. I might have to come back to this one later.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The next kind of cupcake I want to bake. The giant pile of laundry that I always need to do. Almost everything I see. Wondering about people I see on the bus. Eventually unpacking the boxes from my last move. All of the books I want to read. Maybe eventually getting my drivers license. Seriously, what don't I think about is a better question.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I kind of accidentally signed up for this site.

You should message me if

You're interested in trying some fantastic cupcakes. (That's no sexual innuendo. I'm talking about the adorable baked goods.) I'm always interested in trying out new flavours.
