My self-summary
I'm wry, shy at first, intuitive, genuine, honest, and a bit unconventional. I like these things - a stroll with my dog, playing with my camera, coffee, good beer, handmade cards, my friends and family, paying my bills and balancing my checkbook (for real), singing along, cooking for folks, random conversations with strangers, Atlanta, that's what she said/I hardly know her!/all manner of tasteless jokes, scrabble, and periodicals.

I'm a long time vegetarian. I won't squirm if you eat meat in front of me, I promise. I will, however, live 7 years longer than you (on average).

I love a good hike, but usually rely on my more well-versed friends to plan them. I like to ride my bike, too, but only with kind people who are patient for a slow-poke.

I read blogs and the news constantly, and love getting stuck in the wiki-hole (lost in the wikipedia vortex). Despite my slack in reading honest-to-gosh books, I'm proud to say I come from an awesome family of writers.

I've never owned a microwave. But it turns out that non-microwave popcorn is super easy to make. Who knew? CONSPIRACY.

I really dig my pets. Life can occasionally be hectic with the four-legged critters at my house, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am looking for a grown-up type who's following their dreams.
What I’m doing with my life
I am working towards the next thing. I am usually fostering a dog. I fiddle with my plants. I wash the dishes by hand. Spend time with amazing friends. Enjoy the great outdoors. Sometimes more than one of those at a time!
I’m really good at
People have invited me over to cut their cat's nails, under the guise of a home-cooked meal. I spent some younger years working for vets, and cutting your cat's nails is like riding a bicycle, except with cats. Also, I can usually find out who we have in common within half an hour.
The first things people usually notice about me
My keen sense of humor, or my keen eyebrows. They always think I'm taller than I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Kicking and Screaming (Noah Baumbach), Grizzly Man, Watership Down, Under the Frog, fresh chevre, apples (excluding Red Delicious), dark chocolate, Five-Eight, Radiohead, The Mountain Goats, The Pixies, Nirvana, Wilco, Willie Nelson.

I also love radio - npr, AM750 (legitimately love Clark Howard, listen to the other guys to hear another point of view - until I can't listen anymore), AM 1690, and I really love kexp, and Album88 when the dj's aren't too annoying.

Ideally, you would love and appreciate Louis C.K.'s show Louie.
The six things I could never do without
Thing things: dictionary, phone, mac, bra, pen, coffee
Not so much thing things: lots of sleep (and dreams), wonderful family, the cat and dog who make me laugh, perspective
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why INXS is so much more awesome than Duran Duran.

Becoming a mortgage owner.

How to get teen moms to use contraceptives. And/or teen boys and/or/or those who impregnate teenagers. Oy.
On a typical Friday night I am
...decompressing from the week. Or at the neighborhood dog park followed by an evening of exhaling. Friday night is awesome for a wind down.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Your profiles tend to intimidate the hell out of me, or bore me to tears.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 30–50
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends
You should message me if
...you would like to get to know me better.

The quiver match thing is awkward, right? Just email if you want to email, and if I feel like responding, I will.

I'm a city gal, and perhaps eventually a rural gal. I grew up in the suburbs; it's not my thing. If you live in the burbs, and want to stay there, we may not be a good match. I need to emphasize this more - logistics are a bitch in Atlanta.
