My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
After 15 years in Brooklyn I recently fulfilled a long-term goal and moved my base of operations to a little town in Western Massachusetts. I am in New York a lot, sometimes every week for days at a time, and plenty enough to date there, but I'm hoping to phase out over the coming months and years. I need earth under my feet, a fireplace in winter time, woods. And the City is generally over-stimulating for me, although I take as much advantage of it as most. I own parts of three bar/music venues in Brooklyn, try not to miss Christian McBride, Joshua Redman, Esperanza Spalding or Brian Blade when they at the Vanguard, love to see a play (not a musical) or an exhibit.

My ideal in life is to diversify - City and country living, U.S. and abroad, for profit and non-profit, low and high art, sublime and ridiculous. I think of life kind of like a canvas, and I'm painting it as I go along and trying to use lots of different colors. But I'm eager to share the canvas with another painter who has her own set of paints and wants to add her own style, maybe even retouch or paint over some parts. However, if you are tied to New York for life, best not to humor me with a message -- I am a country boy at heart.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I consult in energy efficiency and clean energy, develop efficiency and generation projects on my own, and help other firms execute large'ish transactions. I work on side projects like the bar/restaurants and (my dream) an indoor soccer venue in New York City. I generally cut, scrape and bruise my hands doing one construction project or another on weekends. I hike, run a lot, like to play cards and ski.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Avoiding self-glorification
The first things people usually notice about me

Never asked them, and they never told.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite movie is A Room with a View, book is the Enormous Room (however, recently in awe of Shadow Country and Angle of Repose), TV show is the Wire. My musical taste is very eclectic and I couldn't pick one thing. Half the time I listen to classical music, then a lot of Leo Kottke-type folk, early REM era rock, big Meshell Ndegeocello fan, international music, and Blitzen Trapper-ish indie pop. My current food fascination is anything involving passion fruit or green tomatillo sauce.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, soccer ball, a good book, music, trackless wilderness
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Ice cream. And how lucky I am that I don't wake up every morning upset about taxes. They seem to make a lotta people's lives sheer hell.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If in New York, listening to live music or at a play. Or perhaps I'm cooking dinner for several friends. If I'm in Masschusetts I'm either visiting my friend's apple orchard or helping another one build his house in the woods.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Once opened the door on my 80-year old grandmother in the buck, getting out of the shower...god rest her soul. I'm still in recovery.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like unconventional -- settling down in the burbs is not your life plan. You like to read and talk about what you read (or see, or hear). "Thoughtful" and "engaging" are characteristics you look for and that you offer.

A note: Shirtless pics are me at my happiest, not me trying to impress anyone.

Another note: why are there so many pictures of girls with fake mustaches? Gives me the willies.
