I am speculative, high-speed, and genteelly absurd.

My Self-Summary

The Executive Summary:

High-velocity verbal atrocities pretty much sums up a lot of it. I enjoy beating my gums together given the slightest excuse and am pretty apt at inventing ones when they don't readily present themselves.

I love words. Reading and writing (nowadays self-flagellation over why I'm not writing) are pretty neat and people who share that view are too. Rithmetic places a distant third.

So far as the other basics go, I was not meant to live in warmer climes, keep myself awake with coffee and amused with booze, and enjoy crushing victories in Trivial Pursuit more than I should, and love a good challenge. I'd put more down, but where's the fun in that?

What I’m doing with my life

If you have any ideas, any at all, you're a good step or two ahead of me.

I’m really good at

Getting people to share more with me than they intend. I'm not saying sodium pentothol has anything to fear from me, but it's an interesting trend.

Also: oddball and impromptu poetry.

The first things people usually notice about me

Probably my clothing or something. I don't really have a good tab on that sort of thing.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Flaubert's Parrot, The Master of Petersburg, Disgrace, A History of the World in 10 1/2 Chapters, The Waste Land, Prufrock and Other Observations, Seamus Heaney's translation of Beowulf

Movies: A Clockwork Orange, Rififi, Gegen die Wand, Trainspotting, Requiem for a Dream, There Will Be Blood

Music: Mogwai, Neutral Milk Hotel, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Dismemberment Plan, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Fugazi, The Clash, The Pixies, Sage Francis, MURS, At the Drive-In, Parts & Labor, Carissa's Wierd, G.F. Handel, The Hold Steady, M83, Venetian Snares, Russian Circles

Food: In general, anything that doesn't contain entrails or eyeballs. More specifically, tapas, sushi, and Puerto Rican food.

The six things I could never do without

Books, coffee, trivial things, beer, my passport, tangents.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What comes next.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either sitting around trying to sleep early or out somewhere that serves beer.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When I was potty-training as a child the only way to make me pee was for my parents (or anyone) to sing a song from Disney's "Cinderella" to me. If you ask nicely I might even tell you what it is.

You should message me if

You feel we have something in common or you find me even remotely interesting.

Also if you feel you can beat me in trivial pursuit.
