I am whimsical, mysterious, and evil.

My Self-Summary

My profile just gets worse in revisions! Feel free to message me--we could end up good friends, or you could be the undeniable love of my life. I like having friends and I like taking it slow, but my hope and aim is to fall in love. Whether it's through this site or the occurences of my daily life, I would like to meet someone I could be in a relationship with. Marriage and children are not a priority of mine. I can't predict what is to come in the next ten years, but I know I'm in no way ready for either of those two things. I'm just trying to stabilize myself right now, and I'm smart enough to know that the lure of a giant party and a pretty white dress isn't enough to commit myself for the rest of my life to someone.

What I'm like: I am shy, but only initially reserved. Once I get to know you, and you, me, I am a fount of dirty jokes, and a jukebox filled with the worst songs ever written. As witty, delightful, and modest as I am, I'm also very bookish, making me just as boring, but hopefully interesting to talk to. I read mostly a variety of fiction, and my favorite books tend to be funny, as humor is the most important thing to me. I struggle with being too serious--I'd be a goth chick with a permanent storm cloud fixed over my head if I didn't have a sense of humor. I love animals, and I'm a non-technical owner of two dogs. They're horribly behaved, but they're very cute and amusing. I wouldn't call myself an activist, or worse yet, a vegetarian (I kid!), but you put me in a room full of people and one animal, chances are I'll spend the time bonding with the animal.

What I hope to find in a significant other: Someone who can laugh and make me laugh. Honesty with me and with oneself. Kindness and thoughtfulness. Someone who can make a good impression on my scary parents. Intelligence without arrogance or condescension. Most importantly, someone who can handle a slightly eccentric, clumsy, and feisty young woman.

What I’m doing with my life

I swear I will really hunker down and perform a proper job search. I've been working crazy hours at the cafe where I'm currently employed, and doing things like this okcupid profile in my spare time, so you see, I have time for little else.

Like all impressionable twenty-somethings with a B.A. in English, I aspire to be a writer. You guessed it (or didn't, which is ok too), a writer of young adult fiction. I'm almost done writing my first book, so wish me luck on that.

I'm obviously not rich, but this is a temporary state until a silver fox with deep pockets finds me and takes me away from all of this. Haha, but seriously, I'm not interested in older men. I repeat: Not. Interested. Older. Men.

I’m really good at

I'd like to say writing, but that's when compared with people who don't write.

Making sure my dogs don't kill themselves--turns out I'm hugely skilled at that.

I'm good at listening, smiling, and feigning interest.

I make people laugh. It's all that keeps me from being devastatingly awkward.

The first things people usually notice about me

I've been told it's my smile. I hope it's not my boobs.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I love Harry Potter. I've been reading the books since I was 14; so sue me. Good Omens, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them, Crime and Punishment, Bridget Jones's Diary Jane Eyre, The Corrections, Paper Towns, The Giver--books that are epic in story telling, humor, and pathos. Favorite history book--King Leopold's Ghost. Favorite sappy dog book that makes me weep copiously by the end--Marley and Me.

One of my all-time favorite films was, is, and might always be Beauty and the Beast. This movie raised me. This movie is probably why I sing-talk like a lunatic. (Sing-talk: conversing through song). Others include Stranger than Fiction, The Notebook, Superbad, Moulin Rouge, Amelie, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Batman: The Dark Night, Across the Universe, A Hard Day's Night, Bridget Jones's Diary, gotta love the Harry Potter movies, Napoleon Dynamite, Juno, Slumdog Millionaire will destroy you and restore you to an improved version of yourself, Dummy, I find The Incredibles more palatable than The Watchmen, The BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, This is Spinal Tap, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and dang it, I do like my modernizations of Jane Austen classics, because I can still watch Clueless and thoroughly enjoy it. Gotta love the running gag about the teenagers with cell phones. Only in Beverly Hills, right?

I have a deep and abiding love for The Beatles. They are my constant, my home, and the basis for all good music. Aside from that, I'm not big into classic rock, but I dip sometimes. Queen will always be fabulously epic. I'm into formerly indie rock bands--The Killers, Kings of Leon, Jimmy Eat World, My Chemical Romance (which harkens back to Queen, in my opinion), Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, Green Day, the occasional White Stripes, and whatever's good. Did I mention I listen to bad pop music in the car? It's so...bland most of the time, but it's there, it keeps me awake, and my vocal chords fresh. Ever perform an entirely seated routine to Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back?" Oh, I have. Come sing Leona Lewis's 'Bleeding Love' with me some time. We will be glorious.

I am a big seafood and Italian fan. I <3 shrimp. Honest, true love. I dig Thai and Chinese, but you know what? Sushi isn't bad! I'm also big on meat, potatoes, and such like. I'm still waiting for Massachusetts to legally recognize unions between women and cheesecakes. Coffee isn't a food, but it is a way of life. A life I have chosen.

The six things I could never do without

Writing implements, dogs, friends, my computer, spell check, and water.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What you look like naked....I can't wait to see the responses to that one. Seriously, um, what I can do to better myself, the state of the world, and all that garbage. --Um, J/K about the whole picturing you naked thing. I don't know you, and I'm certainly not picturing you naked.

On a typical Friday night I am

Watching a movie on tv, on DVD, or in a theater. Not a crazy night for me.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I live with my parents. Yay me?

You should message me if

you enjoy me. Don't bother, otherwise.
