I’m intelligent and curious; sadly my social skills aren’t at the same level.
That’s why I prefer to interact with few people at a time, especially if I’m in a strange environment.
I like what the city has to offer in its variety and the possibilities it holds, but I prefer to live in a quiet place, where I don’t hear traffic noise and I have open spaces, with some green. I had both experiences: I was born in a big city in Germany and lived there until I was 10, and then moved to a little village in the Portuguese country side, the exact opposite of what I knew until then. I like to think that I had the better of the two worlds, although I didn’t know that at the time.
When I was 18 I wanted to save the world. Nowadays I still believe that individual actions can make a difference. I try to make my share and, among other things, I’m a lender at Kiva, which finances micro-credit institutions, and the godmother of a Mozambican child through Helpo, a Portuguese NGO.
Since I can remember that I love to learn and to know. I love discovering new things, I love to be shown and explained how things work, even if it is just a new restaurant, a detail on an iron fence, the strange form of a tree or a stone, a constellation I didn’t know.
Music, a gift, is my form of artistic expression. I like to make music with others, joining the parts that, if left alone, are incomplete. But I also enjoy silence; after all it is a part of music.
I’m an atheist, and I believe that even so it is possible to be ethical and to feel connected to the rest of the world.
This wonderful journey that is life deserves to be shared.
Sou inteligente e curiosa; pena que as minhas aptidões sociais não estejam ao mesmo nível :)
Por isso prefiro interagir com poucas pessoas de cada vez, especialmente se estiver num ambiente estranho.
Gosto do que a cidade oferece em termos de variedade e as possibilidades que tem, mas para viver, prefiro sítios sossegados, onde não ouça carros a passar e veja espaço livre, com algum verde. Tive ambas as experiências: nasci numa grande cidade na Alemanha, e vivi lá até aos 10 anos. Depois até aos 18 vivi numa aldeia da Beira Baixa, o oposto do mundo que conhecia até aí. Gosto de pensar que tive o melhor dos dois mundos, embora na altura não o soubesse.
Quando tinha 18 anos queria salvar o mundo. Hoje ainda acredito que as acções individuais podem fazer uma diferença. Por isso tento fazer a minha parte e, entre outras coisas, empresto dinheiro (sem juros) a instituições de micro-crédito através de www.kiva.org e apadrinho uma criança em Moçambique através da HELPO.
Desde que me lembro que sou gente que gosto de aprender e saber. Adoro descobrir coisas novas, que me mostrem e expliquem como funcionam, mesmo que seja só um restaurante que não conheça, um detalhe numa varanda de ferro forjado, a forma estranha de uma árvore ou de uma pedra, uma constelação que não conhecia.
A música, essa dádiva, é a minha forma de expressão artística. Gosto de a fazer em conjunto, em equipa, a conjugar as partes que sozinhas não são completas. Mas aprecio também muito o silêncio, que afinal de contas também faz parte da música.
Sou ateia, e acredito que mesmo assim é possível ter ética e princípios e sentir-me ligada ao resto da "criação".
Esta viagem fantástica que é a vida merece ser partilhada.
