My self-summary Propose an edit

I'm always smiling and I love to laugh - loudly, and wherever I am. You know you're really good if you can get me to snort.

I believe in peace, human rights, feminism, the environment - and working to promote all of the above. My hot button issues are reproductive rights, sex education and separation of church and state. I'm beginning to get involved with the local sex positive community, and am working towards a career/life of bringing positive change to sex education and health care both in the U.S. and abroad. I want to see a world where fear and repression are not the tactics used in place of real education.

Though my sexuality does not define me, it is an integral part of my persona. I am bisexual, kinky, and in an open (potentially poly, depending on circumstance) relationship with a man whom I love more than words can say, gastove. I'd like to find stable, drama-free folks for friendship, smooches, play and general tomfoolery.

I'm a girl without her horses. Which if you know/have done Parelli Natural Horsemanship, basically means you're without your best friend. I miss those velvety noses and my hair flying in the wind every day.

I love learning about new things, from people and cultures to the latest scientific discovery. I read voraciously - from books to cereal boxes, nothing with print in English or Spanish is safe. Books are one of the keys to my heart, pulling dead even with delicious home-cooking. The past couple months I've spent learning the ropes of cycling Seattle, cooking many a scrumptious meal, and pursuing as much dorkery as my life can hold.

Update: I no longer am in possession of a bus pass. Henceforth, I am a full-fledged commuting cyclist. In my mother's words, I'm going to be an "animal". Sadly, I cannot read nor knit while riding my bike.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

Right now, I'm taking some time off from getting my bachelor's degree, and spending a lot of time figuring out and then doing what makes me happiest.

Current big decisions are: where to finish my undergrad work and what to get a bachelor's degree in. Or, how to convince Master's programs to let me in without one.

Long term plans: Master's in International Public Health Policy, and then revolutionizing the world's views on sex.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Making a fool of myself, either by being a klutz or saying something dumb.

But really, I'm a good cook - from a mean stir fry to a perfectly seared steak, or perhaps even an artfully presented dessert. My kisses might just knock your socks off. I'm a musician - mainly a vocalist, but I play bass and a little flute, as well. I'm an excellent horsewoman.

Small children and animals adore me. I am trustworthy, compassionate and kind, to a fault. I'm proud of my courage: that I can do really hard, scary things because I know they're good for me.

Most importantly though, I'm really REALLY good at being awesome.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

My smile, my open mind, and my keen sense of humor.

Or they just ask if I'm okay, because I've either A) fallen over, B) tripped on something imaginary, or C) ran into them while daydreaming. I promise though, I'm a dork in the best possible way.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: This is too much like choosing favorite friends, or children. I leave you with a handful of books I've finished recently or am reading currently.

"Hot, Flat, and Crowded" - Thomas Friedman; "Midnight Tides" - Steven Erikson; "Guns, Germs, and Steel" - Jared Diamond; "Beach Music" - Pat Conroy; Bernard Clayton's 2-part cookbook on bread and soups (yes, I read cookbooks... I'm planning for the winter); Nick Bantock's illustrated autobiography (he of "Griffin and Sabine" fame).

Movies: I like most movies, just not scary ones. A few I particularly like - Moulin Rouge, Secretary (can you say hot?), The Producers, Minority Report, Love Actually, Lord of the Rings, Frida, Amelie, Habla con ella, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. How about we include TV shows: Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, The West Wing, What Not to Wear, Family Guy, Naruto, Bleach...

Music: jazz, folk, and alternative/indie. Indigo Girls, Metric, Sonya Kitchell, Dave Brubeck, Beautiful South, Death Cab for Cutie, James Taylor, Jack Johnson, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Johnny Lang, The Waifs, Billy Joel, Dream Theater, REM, Sarah Maclachlan, The Shins, Travis, Cowboy Bebop, Iron and Wine, Pink Martini, Stars, Tegan & Sara, Beck, The Beatles, Keb' Mo', Nina Simone, Sigur Ros, Enya, Rilo Kiley, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald.

Food: I LOVE all food. The only exceptions are eggplant and raw onions. I particularly love sushi and chocolate. I am currently on a quest to take my baking skills to the next level; I want to be able to whip out fresh bread on a whim, and amaze people with my desserts. Also, I'm planning to pursue candymaking - what better project for a perfectionist than one involving exact measurements and boiling sugar?

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

Love (be it romantic, platonic or familial), music / dance, books, my imagination, communication (internet, phones, etc), good food, and human touch (cuddles, sex, kisses, massage).

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

How to decorate my new apartment!

Can we say compulsively planning instead of thinking?

I compulsively plan for the future - be it near future or "so distant it may never happen" future, I've researched it. My favorite ways to waste time include browsing foreign real estate, dream vacations, dance lessons, wedding dresses, furniture for my dream house, and adding to my lists of books to read and restaurants to visit. The big one is how and when I'll be returning to school.

I spend a good deal of time thinking about relationships and polyamory - how they work best and worst, and the joy they bring. Also, sex.

I daydream excessively, as well.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

On Fridays, I have to get to bed pretty dang early (work is at 6 am), so I'm usually just cooking and eating something fantastic with my partner.

On *my* Friday night, I might be doing the same thing... but in scene. Or, we might have a group of friends over for Knitting and (k)Nerd-ery -- crafting madly and listening to TED talks or RadioLab. Or, I might be on a date.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

That while I may seem very confident and sure of myself, I second guess my decisions constantly.

But a more fun "secret" -

I aspire to own the world's largest collection of lingerie. Really, the only thing keeping me from buying all the lacy goods I can get my hands on is my meager student's budget.

I'm a bottom, who'd love to learn how to switch.

....... I'm really not very secretive, fairly shameless, in fact.

You should message me if Propose an edit

You're interested in witty banter on a multitude of topics, and/or live in the greater Seattle area and want to go on real-life adventures.

Responses will be dependent on the following criteria: a) correct usage of English grammar and punctuation b) word choice and content ("u r hawt" and "i want 2 eat ur pussy" are examples of messages that have been promptly deleted and the user blocked) c) age difference (I am not interested in folks old enough to be my parents)

Perhaps this sounds harsh, but I really only want to hear from people whom I'll find intellectually stimulating and fun to talk/hang out with.
