compassionate, brainy, and easy going
My self-summary Propose an edit
I work with kids and I'm working on a bachelor's in social
work.
I am quiet at times, and have too much to say at others. I like to
read, hike, camp, and play with my dog.
I have recently quit smoking, taken up running, and gone back to
school, all of which I am really proud of.
I love baseball and beer. (together and separately)
I am tolerant, open-minded, and honest.
I am a pescatarian (a fancy way of saying a vegatarian who eats
seafood).
I am absent minded and get lost easily, but it helps me have a
fantastic imagination.
Sometimes, for no particular reason, I crave solitude and wish I
could go somewhere with no one around for miles. Lacking the means
to actually get to such a place, I usually lose myself in a
book.
I don't drive. I can, if I have to, but try to avoid it as much as
I can, and haven't owned a car in 10 years.
I am compassionate and try to be kind.
Life is a journey of learning and growth. I will never be entirely
satisfied with who I am because there is always room for
self-improvement and change. This is not to say that I am not at
peace with myself as is. I am.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what I am looking for with this
website. Love, laughter, and all the other cliches, I suppose, and
there's nothing wrong with that. Romance and a soul mate, ideally,
but I don't know if one can find that online. I have resisted
joining the online social world up unitl now. Maybe someone will
surprise me. I am busy much of the time these days, but a girl's
gotta have some fun, too!
I should mention that I am not a big on online chatting. So if you
try and I don't respond, it's nothing personal (usually!). But
emailing is good...
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I work full time with abused children who have emotional problems.
I've worked for the same non-profit for over 5 years, and my
experience has inspired me to go back to school to get a bachelor's
degree in social work. I want to get a master's after I'm done, and
then be a therapist for the kinds of kids I work with now.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Listening, understanding, laughing, unjamming copiers, reading,
cooking, fixing hair (it's an occupaitonal hazard of working with
young girls), seeing both sides of an issue, open-mindedness,
self-analysis
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I'm tall and i have long hair (at least that's the first thing they
mention)
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
This is a tough one. The categories are too broad, or I have too
many favorites. Let me narrow it down:
beer (pricey): stella artois, most pilsners
beer (cheapo): lone star
kid's movie: the iron giant, the neverending story
breed of dog: mixed
novel (russian): anna karenina
food (mexican): vegetarian chile rellenos
temperature: 72 F (outside) 68% (inside)
bands (top 3): Old 97's, Pixies, u2
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

my imagination

and of course air/water/food (true for everyone)

with it

the nature of humanity
what i would rather be doing (when studying or working)
global warming
how much i am not looking forward to moving in a few months (time
to find a house with central air!)
places i want to go
what it would be like to trade places with someone who lives a life
completely different from my own
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Working until about 11, then probably avoiding the crowds and
staying in. I prefer to go out on weeknights, especially since my
weekend is mid-week. Probably watching a movie or drinking a few
beers with friends. It's gonna change, though, because starting in
August I am going to work a "normal" M-F schedule. I've never had
weekends off and I've never not worked evenings. I'm torn between
excitement over having a "normal" schedule and feeling too much
like the masses...
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm skeptical about this internet dating thing, but optimistic,
too.
