My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I haven't paid attention to this profile in a long time, but I think I'll start up again because, social lives, those are pretty good.

So, what should you know about me? I like people. They are really freakin' interesting! So, three cheers for the social sciences. I like high concept mind bendy stuff, which means I read/watch a fair amount of sci-fi. (I like the stuff with monsters made out of bubble-wrap, too) I'm crafty. I cook a lot and I knit and crochet. Project Runway makes me want to make stuff out of my curtains. Last summer I made my bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding. I once knit a pair of pants.

Anyways, I've been told that I'm too serious, and that's probably true, but I always find something interesting in whatever is going on, even if it's the interesting way in which work makes you want to stab your eyes out.

Here is some shorthand info about me for filtering purposes: INFP, Ravenclaw, ninjas over pirates, zombies over vampires... I feel like I used to have more of these.

What am I looking for? Emotional availability is a big plus. Knowing what you want and how you feel? underrated, it seems. I'm super introspective and really don't get how some people manage not to be. Honesty and the ability/willingness to communicate are also important. A splash of geekery is always a good thing as are a little ridiculosity and the ability not to take oneself too seriously. Curiosity, creativity, and critical thought are important too.

Also, dear poly people who message me with inexplicable frequency: I'm flattered and I'm glad that you're doing your thing, but its not my thing. Sorry to disappoint.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I just finished grad school and I'm working with kids and doing a little teaching while I apply for professor-y jobs. Lots of writing, so I spend way too much time in front of the computer, like ya do.

And I'm trying to learn the ukelele. Is that too hipster? I dunno, I think I've never managed much on the guitar because my hands are too small. And six strings to be played by four fingers? That's just mean. So ukelele it is. I go swing dancing when I can, I read a lot, I make stuff sometimes. That's most of it these days.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Well... not at self-flattery, obviously...

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I'm not wearing my glasses, which I usually am, my eyes. Seriously. People used to stop me on the bus to complement my eyes. But, then with the glasses. What else? I dunno...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

a) Hmmm... what have I liked lately? Neil Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, House of Leaves, The Wheel of Time (yes, I stuck it out through the middle bit), everything by Val McDermid, Evelyn Waugh, A Hero of Our Time, Fathers and Sons, Dante, Shakespeare, erm... The Phantom Tollbooth, and The BFG.

b) Dead Again, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Resevoir Dogs, Waiting for Guffman, The Linguini Incident, Battle Royale, Immortal Beloved, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Swing Kids, Anything Alfred Hitchcock ever made, Strictly Ballroom...

c) Gosh, what am I actually watching now? Doctor Who, that's a given. Sleepy Hollow is terrible but enjoyable. Hannibal is fun. I recently mainlined the existing seasons of Orange is the New Black, which was rad. Game of Thrones, obviously. That's probably about it, but I just got Netflix, so all bets are off. Off the air shows I liked include Battlestar Galactica, Pushing Dasies, All the Joss Whedon stuff, Blackadder, Monty Python, Lost, The X-Files, Northern Exposure, Life on Mars, Dexter, Fringe

d) I really heart David Bowie, i like swing music, U2, Nelly McKay, The Scissor Sisters, The Black Keys, Portishead... I listen to a lot of French music these days. (I know, what's up with that?) -M-, Yelle, Louise Attaque, Ridan, M.C. Solaar, Zebda, if those mean anything to you. Also, I swing dance hand have been getting into electroswing lately. Caravan Palace and Movits! for the win!

e) Food is great! Making it is kind of right up there with eating it. Is it distressing that I was once subscribed to three different cooking magazines at a time? I particularly like Indian food these days and I make a pretty mean curry. I don't really eat meat anymore, but I don't care if you do.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I know that that's only three, but they really encompass most of the rest.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
These days it's a lot about how our educational system is screwed, but that's depressing. More recreationally, I think about what people communicate through meme usage online and the processes of socialization. Okay, I suppose those are more professional than recreational... I'll try again. Ahem. Who's going to get shivved next season on OINTB?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Probably not doing much. That's one of the reasons I'm here.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm willing to admit almost anything. The catch is that you've got to ask.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
I think this is the part where I close with something flirty and enticing.

Yeah, I got nothing.

Message me if I amuse you. That's the important bit, right?
