People would say I’m a smart, intellectual type. I’d have to grudgingly agree with them – grudgingly because I’m very down to earth about it and smartiness is not something I consciously cultivate. It’s just the way I am. The most important thing, of course, is what you do with it. Many of my favorite experiences in life involve laughing – absurd humor taps into something deep in my psyche. So does art – music especially, ‘classical’ music in particular (my profession), but all the other arts too. I love it when art profoundly moves, inspires, or delights me, when it rocks my world in some small or large way. Eventually, I like talking about it too.
I’m introverted, but not at all with my friends, and once I adjust and get comfortable in social situations, I’m exceedingly functional, even charming – I just have to feel like I can be myself. A dinner party with amazing food, relaxed conversation, and maybe a game (I’ll admit it) is one example of a life scenario that appeals to me. Another would be taking a long, unpredictable road trip, or wandering around the park on a sunny day, or hiding under the covers and sharing secrets.
All of this is just a pretext to meet some new people. Let’s see if it works – then we can forget all about it. If it turns out we connect, physically, intellectually, and emotionally, it might be the start of something great.
