I am wicked smart, wicked funny, and not even from Boston.

My Self-Summary

I just moved to DC from NYC last year and really love the area. I get excited over good microbrews, other people's dogs, and finding myself in unfamiliar surroundings. I love to cook and watch a lot of Food Network as a result. I've recently started rolling my own pasta, which is a mess but totally worth it.

I also enjoy seeing movies, reading, playing guitar (which I do in a couple of bands), seeing live music, sports with racquets, swimming, day-tripping, exploring, wine tasting, and well placed Seinfeld quotes. I read a lot, and some of my recent favorites include Omnivore’s Dilemma (so good!), Life of Pi, Water for Elephants, Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, History of Love, and Kafka on the Shore.

Things known to consistently crack me up include The Office, 30 Rock, The Daily Show, Flight of the Conchords, Family Guy, and John Cusack movies from the 80s

What I’m doing with my life

I teach sign language to chimpanzees. At least I wish I did. Is there like a 3-week course where I could get certified to do that? I actually build web-applications and really enjoy my job.

I’m really good at

Crosswords puzzles and word games, especially Scrabble. Predicting who-done-it on Law and Order is also one of my strengths, although I don't think I've ever solved the case on House. I'm also pretty good at using my new GPS despite still getting a little lost while using it the other day.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Satanic Versus, Still Life with Woodpecker, Brothers Karamazov, Middlesex, Clockwork Orange, Life of Pi. Anything Vonnegut, Rushdie, Dostoyevski, or Sedaris, and most things Indian or Eggars.

Movies: Donnie Darko, Better Off Dead, Revenge of the Nerds, The Cruise, Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Vacation, Motorcycle Diaries, One Crazy Summer, Big Fish, Office Space, Princess Bride, Christmas Story, Harold and Kumar, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Just One of the Guys, Fletch, Fisher King

Music: The Shins, Cure, old REM, Beatles, Fugazi, Pixies, Modest Mouse, Piebald, Decemberists, John Vanderslice, Blonde Redhead, Beck, Bloc Party, New Pornographers, Sea and Cake, Smiths, Stone Roses, Midlake, Iron and Wine.

TV: While not really part of the category, I think it's critically important that you know that I like to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, Sarah Silverman, Lost, South Park, Entourage, Seinfeld, Iron Chef, House, Reno 911, Californication, and Kids in the Hall.

Food: yes, please!

The six things I could never do without

Fresh produce, coffee in the morning, something good to read, Will Ferrell comedies, music, and the Barack Obama commemorative plate.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Those guys that toss signs on the side of the road. What keeps them motivated and why don't they wear gloves when it's 20 degrees out?!?

On a typical Friday night I am

Checking out a new restaurant, catching a flick, grabbing drinks with friends. (Note: I just don't find this question very insightful but I'm trying up my completed essays percentage :)
