My self-summary
Welcome to my self-summary. Shock and awe or bore to death, this is me.

I am single with no children, no diseases, and try to keep things stress free. The next paragraph gives a little insight into why.

I am not into spin. So I will apply none to my "self summary." I am an ordinary guy who, by a combination of chance and tiny bit of initiative, has experienced a world of extraordinary things. These things have transformed me for all time into what I believe is a better human being. I can only hope they have made me a better companion, but that is for you to decide. I was a journalist for more than a decade and a half. It was a nomadic profession. In that time I traveled around the U.S. and the world, dodging many a bullet, rolling over and finding my fair share of snakes, avoiding traps meant to literally "stop" the press, and avoiding and sometimes not avoiding the painful romance of abbreviated residency.

My demeanor is very laid back, but ready for action. I like independent, adventurous women. Sarcasm is sexy. Intelligence is sexy. Apathy.....not sexy.

Humor is important -- though I probably sound like a stiff, believe me I am not. This summary has put me in a formal mood, so my writing reflects that at the moment.

I love different cultures and like to mix it up. I don't want to hear hip hop all the time, or rock, or jazz, or funk, or classical, etc. I like them all, often randomly mixed. You might find me at an Irish Bar, singing rebel tunes; at a local dive bar, playing pool; downtown dancing salsa; at my grill with some tasty tenderloins; or at the Dancing Wasabi. Variety, variety, variety.

I believe I can accomplish most things I put my mind to, but I am not "driven" as I see so many women's profiles describe as a trait they want in a man. I don't mind nice things and disposable income -- in fact, I have some of that. But I am simply not in relentless pursuit for money. Of late, I have decided I want to bring my body more in line with everything else. To that end I have begun to work out 4-6 times a week. It feels good and it's 100 percent for me. If it makes me more appealing to the eye for a potential companion, all to the good. I play league sports and practice(d) martial arts, so being in shape allows me to do these things better. I must say things in this regard are coming along nicely.

I am NOT a jock. I don't NEED to watch every football game or basketball game. But I DO like to watch, live and on TV. I am the guy that likes to go to a museum and the Aronoff, go to the butterfly show and stroll with you in the park, but also the guy with his Bengals jersey, his Harley, and his tool box. All rolled into one.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a graphic designer by profession. I have a deep sense of social justice and often find myself involved in activities to defend people's rights.
I am always looking for a challenge. I have taken up guitar of recent and begun to teach myself Arabic. Why Arabic? A big chunk of the world speaks it, and though it is not easy to learn, I believe I am capable of doing it.
I’m really good at
Holding my cool under pressure and succeeding against steep odds. Beyond that....writing, public speaking, poetry, cooking, and basketball.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes probably. Upon meeting me, I'd say the inability to fit me into a stereotype.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

music
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The economic and social crisis the world is in, the struggles by woman and men around the world against these crises, and how I can pitch my grain of sand into that battle.

I think a lot about culture and its importance to society. Culture in its broadest sense, not just music, food and language. How the tools to experience and create culture are increasingly being eroded.

I also think a lot about art -- the commissioned art "to get paid" stuff I create on a daily basis, as well as the things that are a product of my heart, mind, and um soul (for lack of a more accurate word).
On a typical Friday night I am
Trying to take over the world with Pinky.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Ok. After years of attacking golf from so many angles, I tried it in 2010 and actually like it. This may not seem like a secret, but as much as I have bad mouthed it, I kind of play "on the down low" to avoid ridicule from my friends. They rarely get to call me a hypocrite :)
