I am confused, lost, and out of my depth..

My Self-Summary

I am a little bit jaded but a still a little bit hopeful with this whole online social caper. And starting to wonder if my profile is a little beige in the grand scheme of this website. Nonetheless I persist.

I have been here and there in the past. I grew up in country SA, and then moved off to country VIC for uni and the beginning of my teaching escapades. Melbourne has been a more recent adventure, with it generally panning out quite well.

I spent a year and a half in Europe for travel a while back now. That made a definite impression on me and changed a lot about the way I live life, but it also confirmed that I am just a bit pure Oz at heart and love living here. We are oh so lucky. If i ever manage to travel again I would love to explore eastern europe further and get to Africa (Morroco was a fave from previous adventure).

I love cooking for friends and having mega feasts at home. Value my friends above so many other things to the point where sometimes maybe I expect too much, but it's just because I love them and think they're great.

I am a bit sentimental, appreciate little things and can't wait for summer. Every October I spend waiting for the weather change fully. Living in Scotland swayed me to loving the heat permanently.

Hopefully soon a bolt from the blue will come down and pound some inspiration into this head of mine. There will definitely be a point where the current path I am on is going to expire.

What I’m doing with my life

I am currently kidding myself into believing that I may possibly be able to impart some knowledge about art into that sponge they call the teenage brain. After 8 years, and about 3000 students later, I think it might have worked on 6.

Hopefully in a while and a few loan payments later I can study again and move in a different direction. Illustration would be nice, and i would really like to revisit printmaking and ceramics artistically one day.

If not, perhaps I will just forge a career in designing rainbow, crocheted toilet covers and accessories. I can actually crochet which probably makes that statement a little more accurate that initially thought.

I’m really good at

.....making stuff. Food wise, Art wise, Garden wise. Daydream wise. Bull dust wise. I guessing drawing and painting is generally my strongest skill area.

Favourite Food to make is Thai. My best friend is originally from Thailand, and she teaches me a thing or two whenever I get to Adelaide.

I am also extremely excellent at buying music off itunes, wasting time on the internet, avoiding my homework, have long winded pointless conversations and giving advice i then don't follow myself, but which is generally good for the recipient.

Over analysing the eventuation of being single for so damn long.

Plotting escape plans. The latest is to run away to Alaska.

The first things people usually notice about me

I actually don't know! It's not something I have ever asked one of my friends. My crazy hair? My weird sense of humour. My earrings. Friendliness. Honesty I think. "No flies on you ezwillo!" as my bestie likes to say.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Favourite book of all time is The Book Thief. Nothing else has stayed with me like that novel. I am not sure anything will ever knock it off it's perch. Jonothan Livingstone Seagull would perhaps be a close second.

Music is hard of course, but current favourite is Mumford and Sons. Male voices just work so much better for me. EODM, QUOTSA, Elbow, Feist, Magic Dirt, Groove Armada, Unkle, Radiohead, are long termers.

Movies - Amelie, Pan's Labyrinth, The Notebook, Batman, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Pursuit of Happyness, The Green Mile. Stuff that generally rips my heart out, but not necessarily in a romantical soppy fashion.

The six things I could never do without

An Asian Grocery Shop.
Music
My friends.
Vegemite (going OS proved that).
Books.
An escape plan.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What the hell to do next with my life. I really have no idea. I want more, but in what form I haven't figured out yet.

How to get rid of my beige feeling.

I also think too much about work. I apologise for that in advance. Teaching is a little too consuming. Mostly this entails new forms of torture and punishment.

I also spend a lot of time thinking about where else I would like to live in Aus. Or the world.

What I would do with millions of dollars comes up quite often. Starting a Whiskey Distillery is one option I consider quite regularly. As is running away to the south coast of spain, hiring Elbow to play at my next birthday party, and kidnapping Frank Woodley. Or Angus Sampson.

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually a bit knackered, planning saturday night and watching movies or hanging with friends. Either that or spending time in Northcote or getting cocktails in the city. Who knows. It's never very organised.

Partaking in some single malt whisky is kinda nice when I have the extra cash.

Spending too much time trolling internet dating sites.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I am finding this question kind of hard to answer. Generally because I am not really a super private or secretive person, and I am usually pretty up front with the way I am feeling or thinking.

One thing that used to be kind of embarrassing which is now more funny, is that I have officially had a warrant out for my arrest before. Cool huh.

That is all a bit lame, you'll just have to dig to find out that stuff i guess.

You should message me if

you think there's a reason to, and realise how rediculous all this is really.

That percentages mean diddly squat.

Also if you like eating, talking, spices, creative pursuits, can teach me something bizarre and put up with my pork-chop carry on.
If you like dirty rock music I could be your best friend.
If you appreciate the country as much as the city and find it hard to choose which you like best.
If you love your family but they drive you a little bit nuts.
And perhaps if you just happen to think you might have something nice to offer the world.
