I am tattooed, bipolar, and geeky.

My Self-Summary

I'm heavily tattooed, a self-professed geek, an unabashed gamer, and a huge fan of terrible horror movies. I like music of all kinds, even those social pariahs "country" and "rap". Not saying I like ALL of it, but there's generally at least one song by anyone that I can enjoy. I also tend to find something to like in any movie I watch, whether it's a straight drama as good as Dead Flowers, a flawed science fiction "epic" like Total Recall, a not-very-funny comedy like Observe and Report, or that unholiest of unholies, House of the Dead. Though Bif Naked is pretty much the only thing for me to like about that movie. And Clint Howard still getting work.

What I’m doing with my life

I run www.jerksinthebackrow.com with my two best friends. We make commentaries for horrible horror movies. So it's kind of like MST3k, except we don't script anything and there is a LOT more vulgarity. Which is funnier is up to the listener.

I'm also a caregiver for my mother, who is in end-stage renal failure. Yes, that means I still live at "home" and will for the foreseeable future. Amazingly enough, taking care of sick family trumped keeping my apartment.

Whenever we get a chance, I get together with a couple friends and make music. We call ourselves a band despite not having an album or any performances. Regardless, we enjoy making music together, and have hopes of actually making an album some day.

I’m really good at

Self-deprecation. Ignoring blatantly obvious flaws in movies to get as much enjoyment as possible, while still recognizing that they're there. Complaining about geeky little things most people would never even consider. Walking with a cane. Pretending I'm Gregory House. Making horrible puns (not that puns aren't inherently terrible, I just make a lot). Being blunt. Anything else is up for debate.

The first things people usually notice about me

Tattoos, earlobes, cane, and eyes, usually in that order. Seriously, I've watched the eyes. People look like they're having a seizure.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Too many books to mention. Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Richard Matheson, graphic novels. While it's not literature, tvtropes is a major addiction.

On the film side, I can watch just about anything. My preference runs toward horror, including imported stuff with subtitles and weird socio-cultural quirks that make nothing make sense. I think SAW is the best movie ever, and it has nothing to do with gorn, horror-porn, or whatever the hell people who don't pay attention to that silly little "plot" thing call it.

With food, it's damn near anything that isn't mayo, tomato, or century eggs. Yes, that includes Durian. I'm not saying I'll LOVE any food put in front of me, but I'll try it. And find SOMETHING good to say about it.

The six things I could never do without

Movies, music, video games, good television, interesting ideas, and books. Mainly just things that keep my mind from self-cannibalizing and distract me from the millions of things it's telling me are going wrong at any given second.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The nature of reality. Movie plots. Comic books. Video games. Wanting to write more. What all I have in store on any given day. Music, both other artists' and my own lyrics.

On a typical Friday night I am

Recording commentary for www.jerksinthebackrow.com , eating pizza and drinking more soda that I probably should.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a pretty open and honest person. If there's something you want to know, just ask.

You should message me if

You like nerdy tattooed bipolar guys who live with their mom. That last one is justified, but still. You can recite from memory one or more of the solutions for Maniac Mansion. You want to know what I meant by that SAW comment. Better yet, you KNOW what I meant by that SAW comment. Come on, I'm pretty sure if you've made it THIS far, you know whether you want to message me.
