I am expressive, friendly, and easily amused.

My Self-Summary

Getting around to completing this (and adding a photo - despite being a photographer, I don't have any photos of myself I like)... so in the meantime, stay put, check out the other info, my answers, and then come back later :)

What I’m doing with my life

Partaking in the tech startup thing as a web developer, all the while considering if and when I should bail out of the rat race and pursue a career in something I truly love.

I’m really good at

Listening, giving advice and honest compliments, not judging, being honest (to a fault sometimes, but I generally know when to hold back), making people feel comfortable, and getting laughs out of people.

The first things people usually notice about me

My smile (so I've been told), or seemingly limitless facial expressions. But also that I'm really easy to get along with - I can make friends with all sorts of people, as long as they're receptive to it.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My tastes in books, movies, and music vary drastically depending on my mood, but I also tend to discover new things I like all the time. That said, some of my favorites to date:

Books (what can I say, I like my sci-fi and fantasy):
- Dark Tower Series by Stephen King
- Dune Series by Frank Herbert
- Earthsea Chronicles by Ursula Le Guin
- Shadow Series by Orson Scott Card
- The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Movies (and I tend to like animated works much more):
- Spirited Away is my favorite among Hayao Miyazaki's films, but I do like the majority of his work
- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
- Almost all of Makoto Shinkai's works

Music:
This is the one that varies most depending on my mood, but it generally revolves between rock (alternative, pop, indie) and pop, in all manners of languages, foreign or otherwise.

Food:
Also mood dependent, but Chinese food is the usual fallback (Taiwanese food in particular). Japanese food also ranks pretty high up there, whether it's sushi or home-style. And I'm most likely to prefer a good home-cooked meal over anything prepped out of the home, but I usually won't say no to good food :D

The six things I could never do without

1. Friends and family
2. A computer
3. My digital SLR and other photographic equipment
4. Books! Novels, more specifically
5. A well-equipped kitchen. For now, this just means my extensive collection of cookware
6. Love, of anything - friends, family, laughing, photography, food, cute furry animals...

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What other sorts of interesting hobbies I can, or should, pick up, and how to find time for the excessive number of hobbies I already have.

On a typical Friday night I am

Hanging out with friends, cooking, or curled up in a blanket reading a good book or watching some shows.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a pretty open book, and will answer just about anything people ask me - even if they're slightly uncomfortable.

You should message me if

You can hold a conversation, are interested in (at the very least) fostering a new friendship, wouldn't mind meeting in person at some point early on (I did the whole make-friends-online thing back in high school, and you really can't beat real, tangible people), and, of course, if you want to :)
