My self-summary
oh hey, how's it going?

Like your average okcupidista, I guess I'm looking for a partner in crime. Without the crime. I don't want to commit any crimes. I would be deported if i committed crimes. But bars, museums, cinemas, book shops, cafes, parties, theaters, my living room watching dvds - we should explore all these places.

me? oh i don't know. dry humoured to a fault but prone to the occasional bout of debilitating sincerity. these are the risks you take.
What I’m doing with my life
urm... the basics... I've just finished my phd in criminology and now working as a researcher for a non-profit organisation. A bit bookish, probably.
I’m really good at
GOOD AT: Placing emphasis on the 'new' in 'NEW York' for unecessary theatrical effect.

BAD AT: Hailing taxis - I throw myself into the road with something between a Nazi salute and an apology. The cars, they do not stop.

GOOD AT: Listening, chatting, supporting, laughing, judging and managing to do all these things while eating cake. it's not as easy as i make it look, but that's the charm of me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Iris Murdoch, EM Forster, Evelyn Waugh, Invisible Cities, If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, The Secret History, Anna Karenina, Birdsong, The Tin Drum, Cloud Atlas, Brideshead Revisited, Birthday Letters, Paradise Lost, The Book of Ebenezer Le Page, Goodbye to Berlin, The Master of Petersburg, The Line of Beauty, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, To the Lighthouse, Pale Fire, The Blind Assassin

I actually literally honest-to-god had to check my facebook page to see what my favourite movies are. late-modernity sucks.
But i remembered that i love... Bullets Over Broadway, The Birds, Don't Look Now, Being John Malkovitch, Two Days in Paris, The Orphanage, Melancholia, Pan's Labrynth, Waltz With Bashir, The Hudsucker Proxy, Another Year

TV - Mad Men, Girls, The Comeback, Summer Heights High, 30 Rock, Archer, The IT Crowd. Lots, really.

Plays - recently: The Testament of Mary, Raoul by James Thierree, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, One Man Two Guvnors, The Caretaker, Einstein on the Beach
The six things I could never do without
marmite, wine, the theme tune to Jeeves and Wooster, dark chocolate, books, nice fitting shirts.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the power. What power? The power of voodoo. Who do? You do. Do what? Remind me of the babe."

On repeat.
On a typical Friday night I am
I know when to go out, I know when to stay in, get things done.

The second Bowie reference on this page - but it signifies nothing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
"In his moments of insecurity he was haunted by the suggestion that life might be, after all, significant."
