*Sigh, I realize that while every weekend I spend just enjoying with friends is another valued memory to treasure, it's also another weekend that I didn't make any progress on the dating front. I suppose the independence of being single is just too desirable still for now...

Curious, contemplative, and cool under pressure.

And now for some links:
• Answer the OKC questions in ways that improve your match percentages:
• Why online dating leaves neither side satisfied (more is less):
• brief LEGO LoTR word-play humor
• some beautiful choir music
• being everything at once
• a commercial with inspiring music that makes you want to travel
• have I mentioned that I love Faun's music?
• and my website, devoted to random musings and old retro video game utilities ( which will turn away most of you, but perhaps appeal to the precious few.
• Dog goes woof, cat goes meow, bird goes tweet, mouse goes squeak...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Software developer on DirectX graphics rendering, particular text/typography.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Drawing (pencil, pen, conté crayon, chalk), origami
Playing piano (started age 9, but rusty now - my Roland must feel neglected).
• Figuring out how things work, especially spatial puzzles.
• Telling computers how to render text (digital typography is my day job).
• Handwriting (others are always surprised when they see my signature on a restaurant receipt).
• Being oblivious to signs that she is attracted to me.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
• warmth - sun/hot chocolate on a cold day/coats
• interesting people - show me new things
• little creations I've made - past drawings/programs
• some form of static media - my books and magazines
• some form of interactive media - games and shows
• internet - how else are you supposed to answer your burning random questions such as the world record for the longest hair or biggest collection of Daleks?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
"The more swiss cheese you have, the more holes you have. The more holes you have, the less swiss cheese you have. Therefore, the more swiss cheese you have, the less swiss cheese you have."

Whether reading hundreds of profiles, sending messages to 5% most interesting, getting barely a 30% reply rate, leading to less than 50% of those being dates is worth all the effort, or if it would just be easier to flirt with the cute girl at Subway, the crumpet shop, or the one who sat next to me on the bus. Sigh, I regret not exchanging some contact info with her, never to be seen again... (but then, maybe that is why it was so easy and engaging to talk with her, knowing there was only a little bit of time and that any embarrassment would be brief).

Why is it that people who are "out-of-phase" in all those scifi episodes don't fall through the floor? (among other unsettled plot holes) Why google advertises liposuction to me of all people when there are plenty of Inuits in need of good ice cubes? Add to that dozens of topics that pique my interest over time.

Motivations behind other's actions, and my own. Why did I try paragliding and zip-lining even though I'm not an adrenaline junkie? I guess I seek new sensations rather than a thrill. Why do I find myself wanting companionship more now than before? Isn't it fine to just remain single and have wonderful freedom?

Je ne sais quoi... and why dating websites fail to capture it thus far. Aaah, so inefficient they are. Maybe I need to create my own to solve this matching problem >_<... How do you know someone is worth the effort of getting to know them, even just as a friend? What is the return on investment you can expect? Everyone has something interesting to say, but some are more interesting than others. Wouldn't it be awesome if you just know someone immediately without all the 'getting to know' them time, kind of like refinding a lost college friend and gaining a new one for free?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
"Nothing, for it's the big vewy scewy internet" ... Oi, show you have a sense of levity, and tell the world something completely completely harmless, such as...

• Hates hypodermic needles. Circus clowns are pretty scary too. Though, the number 13 is quite lucky.
• Was red-haired as infant until it darkened. Still sinister as ever though (left-handed).
• M&M's are eaten as follows: brown, orange, red, yellow, green, blue.
• My oldest known ancestor is Jonathan Andrew Tierce, born ~1745 in Ireland, and my initials are that of an American President (Yes, the dead one. No, the other dead one).
• Never too old for cartoons (series or movies).
• Don't play with them anymore, but I still have every one of my LEGO's.
• I danċe to the lively music when no one else is looking (care to sing to Haiducii Dragostea din tei with me? It's seriously happier than any song should be).
• I do not have IED, LFT, Münchausen syndrome, OCPD, Self-Abasement, or Asperger's Syndrome, and I definitely don't have hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia, or else it would have taken all my courage just to finish typing that last word!
• I can barely do five pull-ups. (but I want to do a hand-stand someday)
• I won't waste my time or yours with lies that you'd find out anyway - plus the truth is a heck of a lot easier to remember! Though, I may have rounded up on my height (depending on the time of day measured)

I'll be a bit surprised, but less than this guy: Especially send a message if you are sciencey/musical/mathy/artsy, even if you don't think I'd make a good romantic match, because I've met four cool friends including one of my best via this site.
