My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Too long, didn't read version: I'm funny, looking for a fella and some fun maybe even a LTR, you're looking for someone like me, let's meet up soon.

Details:
If you are looking for a woman who thinks her personality can be summed up by saying "I love walks on the beach, I'm equally comfortable in blue jeans or a little black dress, and friends call me spontaneous, attractive, and say I love life...." I'm not her.

What I am is someone who would like to meet someone but this is a damn poor place to do it. Think about it: you try to write about yourself in a way that doesn't sound conceited but also puts good points forward, most of us are strangers here, in real life, how often would you be discussing your life with attractive complete strangers?

I *have* met several interesting guys here, but a few I didn't
click with, a few (wrongly) thought dropping into a black hole was far kinder than telling me why I wouldn't be hearing from them ever again. But no one's in my life's right now, and I'm living with it. Their loss, not mine.

Some people have minds like a steel trap--mine is more like fly
paper, so I retain a lot of trivia and have a number of favorite
quotes. I won't be lecturing on what the Greek monetary crisis
means for the economy, but I'll listen for a few minutes while you discuss it and I will retain at least some of it. I do read a lot, particularly news (but not Faux News, no way), but I don't make a habit of reading memoirs of Asian post-serialist composers, and other arcane subjects.

You probably will enjoy spending time with me because you can trust me to be honest but not be in your face about it. And many people think they're funny, but I WILL make you laugh at least once when we're meeting. Bet on it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working (too young to retire, and, besides, I have a kid in college). Hanging out with friends. Going to movies alone. Living my life. Unpacking from my recent move.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Reading (I've been known to read a good book in one sitting), editing, dominating social media (I Tweet, you really should follow skiffy_grrl), quipping, joking, laughing and lots of other things. I like cooking (especially baking) but I don't have someone to share it. I wouldn't mind making a friend who likes to eat. Or making a friend who loves to cook that needs an assistant. Ya gotta eat, right?
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Generally, people don't come up to me and say, oh, the first thing I noticed about you is.... Is that common? I don't know if I've ever gone up to someone and said, "Hello! The first thing I noticed about you is your shoes don't match."

If I had to guess, I guess they notice I'm laughing. Or am surrounded by people I've just made laugh. Maybe it's my smile or my high cheekbones, although are guys really hot for cheekbones? I suspect what they notice is my chest, although I've never understood that fascination. Can someone explain it to me, she said innocently, with a perfectly straight face?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I read. I read a lot. I love anything by Jack L.Chalker. I like science fiction, mysteries, true crime, a lot of non-fiction. If you've read something good, message me with a recommendation. I adore the hunt at a book store to find my next favorite book. Do you haunt bookstores? I'd love to have company.

Movies: "big" movies with special effects should be seen in theaters, "little" movies best savored intimately should be watched at home. I like science fiction movies, comedies, and adventure movies, not so big on indie movies. But I could change my mind. Make your best case.

Shows: Yes, please. I love musicals.

Music: 70s music, R&B, some jazz. Rap and country? Not so much but I'm willing to give a listen to something that might change my mind.

Food: Does it have olives, beets or kale? Then no thanks, otherwise, bring it on. Any ethnicity, meat optional. Love sushi, any Asian food, regional American, French cooking, crabs, street food, and, of course, Italian food. (I am culturally Italian.)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
This is a dumb question. If it's important to you, send me a message and I'll answer it.

The question OKCupid needs instead is what type of partner are you looking for? Then I'd have to say smart, employed, single (for a LTR, I have friends who are poly, and I've been a FWB for them), a little active, social, and romantic.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Everything. Seriously. There are times I wish my stream of consciousness had an OFF switch. I'm usually reading several books, so I spend some time thinking about those. I have a huge list of things I want to do once my youngest gets out of college. I'm trying to compensate for my ADD by getting organized so I think about how best to do that.

Also, if any ladies are reading this, do you know of a good source for buying size 36G bras? They are difficult to find in stores.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm home, relaxing after working hard. I go out on Saturdays instead. I'd like to have some non-typical Friday nights, though. Message me, we'll meet up and hang out.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I realize this damages my geek/nerd cred, but I've never been to a Medieval fair/festival. I've WANTED to go but I keep missing out when friends go, they just assume I don't want to go because I've never been. So if you're looking for company, and it's the fall, send me a message. Snark about how inauthentic they are is strictly optional.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Well, if you've gotten this far, congratulations.

There's a limited time I'll be OK chatting or emailing you, but then we MUST meet up. And you have to like going out for the first several dates. Which isn't to say I won't be OK with hanging out, watching TV, but I do a lot of that now, going out is fun.

If you were born before 1970, please don't message me saying "Age is just a number." I filter for a reason.
