I am tall, dark-minded, and strange.

My Self-Summary

Disregard my profile name...it's a relic of a childhood fascination with Frank Herbert's Dune series, combined with a brief post-high-school period where I had bleached/spiked short hair, and looked like the version of the character as played by Sting in the DiLaurentis movie version.

I'll admit that I'm pretty reclusive, but I do get out sometimes.
All I need is a good reason. Anyone *have* a good reason?

What I’m doing with my life

Working for a land surveying company, and trying to finish paying off my student loans from UCSC. Also, musing on how I ended up where I am in the universe.

Could be much worse, I suppose. I've got a job I really enjoy. I've always loved maps, now I get to help *make* maps.

I’m really good at

Taking contrary opinions for the sake of argument, playing devil's advocate, driving people crazy (I'm working on that though).

The first things people usually notice about me

Is that they don't notice me until I'm right next to them. I'm not sneaky, just quiet.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) Mostly SF/Fantasy, and a random assortment of other books that look interesting; I read fast. Too fast to make buying every book I want to read anywhere near economically
possible.

(b) Super Troopers, Blazing Saddles, Repo Man, Young Frankenstein, Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan is a good start on my list.

(c) gothic rock, industrial rock, alternative rock, ambient, shoegazer, industrial metal, psychedelic trance, and so on.

(d) Good whiskey, beer, spicy food. I'm usually not too picky, except for cilantro (allergic, but not badly so), and I'm not especially fond of broccoli or asparagus.

The six things I could never do without

Information (books, internet, downloaded tv shows and movies), food, shelter...the usual.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

everything; I have a huge amount of half-remembered and usually forgotten information cluttering up my memory. My train of thought sometimes takes odd detours.

On a typical Friday night I am

Well, that all depends, doesn't it? Truthfully, I usually end up watching downloaded tv shows alone and catering to an extremely neurotic cat.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

...no, I like having a few secrets.

You should message me if

you think you want to. Or if you want company for a trip to the coffee shop. Or something, I don't know.
