My self-summary
I am a mixed-media artist and writer who enjoys the unusual, fun and creative. I like people who are unique, curious, talented, funny, intelligent, laid back and liberal. My house is very organized except for my desk and studio which are usually piled high with current projects. I love dancing,...words...conversations...art...movies,...books...traveling with fun friends, people competent in their fields, loyalty, kindness, irony, puzzles, mystery, new people, old friends, travel with a purpose, aimless travel, spur-of-the-moment plans, lots of time in my studio, Zumba, working out in the gym, yoga, nights in the hot tub under the stars, night sounds, unplanned days that evolve.
I've lived in Australia, Ethiopia, S.D., Wyoming, Huntington Beach, L.A. and Boulder Creek (near Santa Cruz, CA) and now San Juan Cosala (near Ajijic, which is near Guadalajara) Mexico and have traveled all over the world. I still love traveling, but have found that my favorite place on earth is always home, especially since I've moved to Mexico. Favorite places away from home: Bali, Africa, English countryside, Mexico coast, Chiapas. Where I want to go: snorkeling, sailing, Carribean, Mediterranean, Ireland, Turkey, Italy, Greece, southern and eastern Mexican coast, Guatemala. Anyone want to come along?

Sadly, the new owners have taken the journal option off OkCupid, but you can still see my past journal entries by going to: http://www.okcupid.com/profile/filmartwordgirl/journal
I'm unsure whether you can still make comments, but try and we will see. (I have since discovered that those who have already written in their journals still display the feature and anyone may read their journals, but for new members, it isn't an option.) Don't know why they are doing this. If "they" are reading this, please consider putting it back! It is one of the features that puts OkCupid ahead of the pack. Please don't change it to make it just another introduction site! It is so popular because of these unique features!!!!

I am creative, flexible, and curious

What I’m doing with my life
Just finished and published a book of poetry, writing another nonfiction book, working in my art studio (mixed-media collage), getting organized, trimming down (both self and "things"), building a beautiful environment, teaching art classes, working out in the gym and at Zumba, yoga and water exercise, continuing to change and evolve, laughing, playing, dancing, taking short trips, entertaining friends and house guests and looking for the man who will be my lover, best friend and partner. I have created a test for OkCupid that is named "The Do We Click or Clash Test." If you take it, hopefully it will show if we are a hit or a miss as a match. Please don't forget to rate it.

I just got home from a two month stay at the beach where I finished 50 sculptures for a joint sculpture show/book launch in April. It was wonderful to be somewhere where I knew no one and had no obligations and could walk on the beach two to three hours a day to find elements to transform into sculptures. I lived in a beach house and then in a treehouse in a coconut plantation near a mangrove swamp that was a wildlife preserve, mainly for crocs and birds. It was magical.

Now I'm home, I've had the show which was very well-attended. I feel appreciated and am ready to get over myself and go off into the rest of my life. Other book just about finished, I hope. What next?

It is now five months later and I'm getting ready for another one-woman show as well as two group shows. My third book almost finished, I've started in on the fourth. There are not enough hours in the day. I'm participating in a series of readings to benefit kids' education. A wonderful series with incredibly gifted writers and readers. This is the most wonderful place for sharing words. More satisfying than any best-seller list. Mexico isn't for everyone, and thanks for that, as too many people are already moving here, but if you are artistic, musical, word-worthy, adventurous, full of life and especially if you are a man and like to dance--you will love it here! And I haven't even mentioned Mexican Train and Continental..Main problem is too much social life which can get in the way of creative endeavors, but hey, we are our own masters, no? "No," is the magic word that gains us creative time for ourselves. This is a lesson I have to teach myself.

The first things people usually notice about me
Depends on the person. With women, it is usually my purse. With men, I'm not sure.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
You. If you are one of those people whose uniqueness includes an ability to accept change and investigate new possibilities; if you are curious about why so many people are moving to Mexico; if your heart is full of joy and if you are curious about me--I am thinking about you and wondering when you are going to appear!

When one door closes another door opens; but we so
often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed
door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.

I’m looking for
  • Straight guys only
  • Ages 58-68
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
If you have taken my OkCupid "The Do We Click or Clash Test" and rated well.

If you like the art of clever conversation, "write on." Passion begins with words and continues with the right glint in the eye…or vice versa…Both have to be there for friendship and for passion.

If you want to know about Mexico, ask me. I've been here for ten years and love it more every year. If you have a wonderful alternative, let me know. Every time I've moved to a place I love, I've left one as well. I know there are many fantastic alternatives in life. But no snow, please. I just (in 2010) spent Thanksgiving in Minnesota. The company was superb but the cold, constant slippery ice (ouch, ouch) and gray skies were not.

Travel or living elsewhere for part of the year would be great, so If you have found a Shangrila elsewhere in the world…I'm all ears. Ready for change which might include you!!!

For me, a long distance relationship, at least for awhile, is no problem. What needs to be maintained is vibrant communication. Movie and music trivia, matters of art and writing, travel, your day-to-day stories, stories of your past, humorous bantering, clever word play…all win points.

I've answered lots of OkCupid questions, taken lots of tests, and I enjoy reading and comparing with your answers, so your answering an impressive number of the questions earns points as well.

You should write to me if you are curious and you love to both talk and listen. I am insatiable in my curiosity about interesting people, so I am open to talking to intelligent others even if they are not primarily looking for a love relationship.

But---I am also very interested in finding the love of my life, so if you think I sound interesting and if you are open to reaching out farther than 50 miles away from your home for a relationship, please don't hesitate to contact me. It is important to me that you are someone who is willing to talk. Strong silent types are great in the movies, but in real life, I've found it just creates too many problems in the relationship. So, please be open, non-paranoid, curious and willing to compromise. I'll try to be the same!!!
