My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"Our desire to be free has got to manifest itself in everything we are and do."
--Assata Shakur

I adore dogs, Rottweilers in particular.

I grew up in the woods of rural, anglo Quebec.

It turns me off when a man is into video games and/or has a frequent need to show me something on youtube. :D

I want to live in the Caribbean and drink coconut everyday. Or live in a log cabin here (winter is more bearable in the country).

My favourite smell in the world is the smell of burning wood.

I am not into cars really, but I find old pick-up trucks remarkably sexy.

I'm trying out bangs right now, no photo evidence yet to share. Also: I couldn't decide between fit and curvy in the details section.

No justice, no peace.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I organize and promote events about issues like systemic violence against indigenous communities in Canada (women in particular) and the environment, reproductive justice, sexual assault awareness, international solidarity (ie with places that our government is actively participating in destroying, such as occupied Palestine) and many other things to do with race and gender. Also: workshops, peer counselling services, the occasional party, marches, the occasional direct action, etc, etc. At times I deal with the media, and it's an insane amount of work, but I mostly love my job and feel blessed to get paid to do feminist social justice work that is meaningful to me.

I've also recently finished a Creative Writing Masters program. I plan on trying to get a job teaching at a CEGEP in the next year or so.

I used to do a good amount of freelance independent journalism but am now trying to focus on my creative writing projects...

Politically, I am more interested in noticing who is being heard, who is not, understanding why, and then figuring out how to balance out how skewed it is than in telling myself that there are only two sides to a thing, and that they are in any way equal or equally deserving of attention. I am not the kind that is turned on by a major difference in political beliefs. While I'd like to be on the same page politically as any potential lover/partner, I would prefer someone whose involvements do not overlap in every way with mine.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Communicating, telling stories, finding surprising ways to describe things, being really really honest, showing affection, making others feel comfortable, dancing like mad, observing people closely, improvising food, coming up with t-shirt slogans and band names, traveling light, a few other things. Oh, and laughing at almost everything. The universe is a funny fucking place.
The first things people usually notice about me

On a typical Friday night I am

At a friend's house, or dancing, or out at some political/artistic event. But these days, more likely relaxing with a movie or TV 'cause I'm exhausted.

I need help relaxing.

If you are a strong, fearless, and yet compassionate communicator. If you possess a critical, questioning, discerning mind but are not obsessive. If you have a sense of humour, and see the divine comedy that is always at play all around us. If you love and respect women. If you are honest. If you're not into games, know what you want, and are ready to take it. If you do not spend the majority of your time in front of a computer. If you see the worth in having fun, for it's own sake.
