When I am not working, spending too much time on the net (hm,
should this be "participating vigorously in the global electronic
community"?, or hanging out with my sweeties, family, friends, and
pets, I
volunteer at an
animal shelter, play with
beads, pick up a
word of
Japanese
here and there (mostly by watching anime and movies), torture
yarn with hooks and
needles, and write
fiction,
rants, and
poetry.
To expand a couple of those categories:
Sweeties: I live with my primary partner, aka the "Outlaw Husband"
(we got married but didn't tell the government). I have two
long-term local partners I don't live with. I have a few other
connections that fall into the TOCOTOX (TOo COmplicated TO eXplain)
category.
Pets: Two cats, Angus and Biscuit.
Some of these are things I think I'm good at, and some of them are
things other people have told me I'm good at.

Online: articulate, possibly intimidating. Offline: female, fat,
initially shy/reserved. Gender presentation somewhere in the
butch/geek/earth-mama quadrants. Some people say I am calming to be
around.
Books: Well written non-sexist
speculative fiction,
science
fiction,
fantasy (e.g.,
Ursula K. Le Guin,
Tiptree award
winners)
Movies:
2001: A Space Odyssey
and
Wings of
Desire (
Der Himmel Über
Berlin),
anime
(e.g.,
Ghost in the Shell and
Miyazaki),

I like music with an underlying simplicity, across all genres. I
had an argument with a friend once because I said
Bach had an underlying simplicity and
they said Bach was very complex. This is one of those "amplectere
potestem 'et'" (
embrace the power
of 'and') things.
Food: Mostly peasant food (
noodles, burritos) but I'm also a fan of
the chef
Ron
Siegel of Iron Chef fame.

Also I ponder what OKCupid's category "short term dating" means.
I am kink-friendly except I don't do DS.
I can't walk long distances.
I have a mood disorder, which is managed reasonably well by
medication.
