My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
The meaning of life will be revealed at the end of this profile, so be sure to keep reading ... In the meantime, here's a little about me: I'm educated, intelligent, physically fit, active, inquisitive, considerate, cultured and financially stable. I have a truly wide range of interests: exploring the natural world, hiking, cycling, kayaking, photography, music (Beatles to Bach to vintage jazz), movies (including indie and foreign films), reading (mostly fiction). I'm not materialistic, not a couch potato, not a Biblical literalist, not a NASCAR fanatic; I don't watch much TV. I try to think for myself; definitely not a dittohead. I'm liberal in a social and political sense. I enjoy intelligent conversation. I'm an ardent nature lover. I don't claim to be a male model, but friends tell me I look younger than I am. I've learned that some women regard baldness as an unforgivable sin, but I can't help genetics and I'm not going to pursue some absurd hair implantation strategy. I'm a bit reserved until I get to know someone well, but those who know me say I'm witty. ... Oh yeah, the meaning of life thing, right. Hold on a second, I have it written down somewhere ...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Writing, reading, learning, refining my outlook/ideas/beliefs, creating, appreciating music/art/literature, cherishing the natural world, enjoying life's humorous absurdities, keeping in touch with my family, looking at birds, talking to my dog, wondering why she never talks back, hoping to meet someone.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Writing, ruminating, unleashing occasional displays of wit, rejecting nonsense from certain politicians and talk-radio bozos, blending in with the natural world (except for the ticks).

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I read mostly fiction. Favorite writers include Richard Ford, Lorrie Moore, Carl Hiaasen, Ann Patchett and many other contemporaries, along with the greats of the canon (Tolstoy, Zola, Stendhal, Jane Austen). I don't watch much TV at all. Favorite movies include Dog Day Afternoon, This Is Spinal Tap, Citizen Kane, Before Sunrise, You Can Count On Me, Annie Hall ... I could go on and on. I have a fondness for film noir from the 40s and 50s. As for food, I love Indian and Thai. My musical interests are fairly eclectic. A random sampling of favorites: The Beatles (first and foremost), Elvis Costello, the Velvet Underground, the Feelies, Yo La Tengo, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Camper Van Beethoven, Cat Power. I get a kick from traditional jazz (Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Oscar Peterson). I'm also partial to classical/orchestral music (Debussy, Delius, Bach, Vivaldi). I like a lot of rock with country influences (the Byrds, early Wilco, Little Feat) but don't care for contemporary mainstream country. I enjoy the blues in proper moderation. I dislike heavy metal and have little tolerance for hip hop, dance-club music, deathgrind or barbershop quartet.

... you are intelligent, educated, open-minded (that is, not racially prejudiced or religiously judgmental), interested in arts and culture, appreciative of the natural world, intellectually curious; you know the difference between "your" and "you're."
