My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Some things I enjoy:
finding new bands to listen to (usually indie these days)
albums that are great from start to finish
book stores
record stores
Dr Martens (there's a store in SoHo!)
divey/laid back bars
walking around the city
being in a park
computer programming (my job)
great books
outdoor eating/drinking
pub trivia
crosswords and other puzzles
talking about politics, philosophy, ideas, beliefs, etc.
playing around with drums (I occasionally take lessons)

Although I do like Dr. Martens and have a couple tattoos, I'm not a goth or biker chick. But nor am I the girly-girl wearing ballet flats and a trendy purse. I'm somewhere in the middle, finding my own way.

I'm not into the "see and be seen" scene or trendy things in general. I crave things that are sincere, genuine, honest, etc. This applies to most any form of expression, people, okcupid profiles...

I actually do put a lot of value in being a good person. I'm not perfect, but I try to be as good as I can, as often as I can. Looking for the same.

Lastly, a friend told me recently that she thinks I'm a bit unconventional when it comes to dating/relationships, and I think she's right to some extent. I am looking for a monogamous, rest-of-my-life sort of relationship (that part's pretty conventional), but I don't need to get married, not sure I want kids, and I don't ever see myself migrating to the suburbs. I want a real connection with a great guy, and I prefer to stay single until I find it rather than settle for something less.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Well, I'm kinda going with the flow. I have found in the past that you sometimes end up in places/situations that you'd never have thought you'd be in, so I don't have real definite plans for the future. I really enjoy my job and living in NYC, so I'm sticking with that for now. And I'll just see where life takes me further down the road.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
over-thinking things
remembering song lyrics
being punctual

People tell me I'm a good listener.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
A shyness that is criminally vulgar. But then I open up.

But when I am watching, these are the types of shows I enjoy or have enjoyed in the past: The Simpsons, Futurama, The State, Bob's Burgers, Seinfeld. I recently watched all of The IT Crowd and Peep Show on Netflix and loved them both.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Things that make me laugh until I snort
Sleeping in on the weekend
An alarm clock for the rest of the time
Potatoes, in all their lovely forms
Good books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Sometimes fairly heavy stuff like my life, where it's going, etc. I just want to make sure I don't lead my life in a way I'll regret down the road.

The fact that some people seem to have completely lost touch with what matters in life.

The awesome ways in which people can connect. And in contrast, the horrible ways people sometimes treat each other.

What to eat for my next meal.

"How did *that* song get stuck in my head?"
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Telling my cat that she's a kitty, yes she is.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Inside my goody-two-shoes are some very dark socks.

- you generally have your shit together and are looking for (and ready for) something long-term. Obviously everything starts off casual, but I'm not looking for a fling.

- you've read my profile, looked at how I've answered questions, and based on that, you think we'd be a good match.

In case this helps, here are some words I'd like to be able to use to describe my partner:
smart, funny, kind, honest, generous, open-minded, genuine, well-balanced, good-humored, patient, supportive, loving, affectionate
