My self-summary
Born in Santa Monica, grew up in Phoenix, fled to DC for school and then transferred to USC. Studied philosophy, dropped out because I was making money off the film students by being a better sound designer than them. Worked in indie film, drove a cab for bit, ended up back in the post-department, now I edit documentaries. I ride bikes and make stuff. And drink lots of coffee. And good beer.
What I’m doing with my life
Video editor. I just started working at a very progressive documentary company. That's kinda been my aim since I got into this profession: to affect real change with my work. So if you know what Citizens United is and who the Koch brothers are, and you hate them, then I am a good guy to know.

I live in a sort of crazy house with 10 other people. We grow stuff. We build stuff. We destroy stuff. We cook and have movie night. I'm never not entertained when I'm home.

I camp as much as possible and do bike tours. So far I've crossed Ireland, ridden down all of California, from Oakland to Tiajuana (not in a continuous trip) and traveled around Arizona.

Adventure is somewhat mandatory.
I’m really good at
Hunting down good taco trucks. Beating my car based friends to our destination. Knocking rear view mirrors off of BMWs piloted by a jackass wearing a tie.
The first things people usually notice about me
That absurdity is the first truth.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I like them surreal and meaningful. I tend towards the philosophical and romantic. Love in the Time of Cholera is my favorite book, but The Wind-Up Bird Chronicles is pretty close behind it. I can't really do the list thing, there's too many. Sometimes I read to learn (lots of Zizek as of late) and sometimes I read for entertainment (lots of graphic novels and manga). Also I'm a huge fan of short stories; suggestions always solicited.

I watch documentaries, sci-fi and anime, mainly. There are some DVD's I'll never part with: BSG, Tri-gun, Cowboy Bebop, The Fog of War, Arrested Development. Big fan of the Coen brothers, not so much Tarantino. Starship Troopers sits right next to There Will Be Blood on my shelf.

I listen to a lot of music, mainly music that I can dance to. Also I find chilling on the wall to be a moral failing at shows. The LA music scene is amazing and there are so many underground venues with bands that are way too good for radio. If you like these projects, we should talk, or dance, or both.

I've got others, but you know, first taste being free and all...

Burgers and Beer. Steak and Wine. Vegan and Beer. If someone will cook it I will probably enjoy it, but Thai is still my biggest craving. I like to eat well but there's always time for taco trucks.
The six things I could never do without
My bicycle. The ocean. A pen. Music. Coffee. Art.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why I am being borne ceaselessly into the past and what's wrong with the boat.
On a typical Friday night I am
So I guess I'm supposed to say something about bars or clubs or friends or the like; but, in all honesty, I have no idea what one Friday night, or any other night of the week for that matter, may hold. It's gonna be fun though and probably loud and probably involve dancing and very likely include bikes.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am actively trying to rejuvenate phrases like "if I had my druthers" and "curmudgeonly."
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–33
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, casual sex
You should message me if
You can bring me chaos, a good dance floor or the ring of Gyges. Or if you feel like it. Or if I havent messaged you and you're wondering how I could be so obtuse.

Or if this means anything to you: http://www.philosophybro.com/2011/02/martin-heideggers-being-and-time.html
