I am idiosyncratic, low-maintenance, and unblowuppable.
My Self-Summary
My childhood heros were Bill Gates, Carl Sagan and Jimmy Carter.
This has not produced the kind of adult who mixes easily with
sports fans or gun enthusiasts, but I haven't lost hope that I
might someday meet a woman who values the mind of an armchair
intellectual.
My life's ambition is to buy a bigger house in Madison, have people
over for dinner once a month, throw parties twice a year, and spend
weekends hiking Devil's Lake, riding bikes in farm country, or
contemplating life in my study.
I don't usually watch TV or movies at home, but I'm willing to go
along with it if that's your thing. I don't have kids, and at this
point in life it's probably best if it stayed that way.
What I’m doing with my life
Write computer code; debate best way to write computer code; argue
over whether Mac is better than PC; write more computer code.
In my spare time, I provide food and shelter to a small and
otherwise helpless animal.
One day I would like to figure out how to use my computer skills to
advance science or medicine or world peace instead of helping
venture capitalists get rich off of the next Web fad. In the
meantime, it's a pretty good living.
I’m really good at
Puns. I once submitted a list of my best ones to a contest. I
thought one would win, but no pun in ten did.
I'm also somewhat good at cameras and Photoshop.
I'm bad at piano, but I pound on the thing anyway hoping some good
will eventually come of it.
The first things people usually notice about me
Like the great artist Frida Kahlo, I have one long eyebrow that
extends across my face rather than a distinct brow over each eye.
Many consider this a sure sign of intelligence and creativity. In
my case it's probably just a coincidence.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
My favorite book is "Moon People" by Dale M. Courtney. Fortunately
I realized the title was meant to be a noun and not a verb before I
got into too much trouble over it.
My favorite bands are ABBA, Meat Loaf, Bob Dylan, the Kids from the
Brady Bunch, Boney M., Fever Tree, Bill Fox, The Go-Go's, The
Osmonds, and Mrs. Miller.
I'm a vegetarian, so my favorite food is plants. I don't like
movies but I enjoy reading Roger Ebert, so I have heard of a lot of
movies that I've never seen.
The six things I could never do without
A bicycle, a camera, furious political dialog, C major, Java (both
kinds), and my cat Simon.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The long series of unlikely events which caused a group of hydrogen
atoms floating through space to end up being me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Shopping for hummus at Woodmans, talking to my cat, posting
irreverent comments on my friends' facebook pages, looking for love
on the internet.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I once had an AOL account.
You should message me if
If you change your mind, I'm the first in line. Honey I'm still
free. Take a chance on me.
