My self-summary
Career-driven computer guy wakes up to the fact that he's wasting all his best jokes on a cat. Hopes there is still time left in life to remedy the situation in a way that won't upset the cat.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a self-employed software developer. I live on the east side, work downtown, shop at the co-op, and exercise at the Y.

I have the worst lawn on my block. Eventually I'll sell the house and buy something lower-maintenance.
I’m really good at
I'm a three-season bike commuter and a weekend cyclist in the summer. I do some long rides like the MS-150 and I do "spinning" classes in winter. It doesn't make me an althlete, but it's healthy and fun.

My friends say I take good pictures. I tell them they make good subjects. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told I have a soft voice, a dry wit, and a non-threatening personality.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I tried reading a real book once, but was distracted by the lack of banner ads in the margins.

My favorite bands are ABBA, Meat Loaf, Bob Dylan, the Kids from the Brady Bunch, Boney M., Fever Tree, Bill Fox, The Go-Go's, The Osmonds, and Mrs. Miller. My iPod has a large collection of unusual Beatles covers.

My favorite foods are hummus, olives, avocado, tofu, falafel, pasta, and diet coke. I like to eat at restaurants such as the Green Own and Himal Chuli.

My favorite YouTube video is "Glorious Dawn" starring Carl Sagan.

I don't think about movies much but I'm game for anything that's not all about violence or sports. I do have a favorite movie venue. It's the Highway 18 drive-in on a warm summer night, in the front row, sitting out on the lawn under the stars.
The six things I could never do without
A bicycle, a camera, a joke, a Mac, an iPhone, and my cat Simon.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The tradeoff between productivity and craftsmanship.
On a typical Friday night I am
Looking for an excuse to stop thinking about the tradeoff between productivity and craftsmanship.

You should message me if
Just do it. Why not?

The worst that can happen is we go on some awkward first date where I tell a bunch of dumb jokes and end up with spinach stuck between my teeth when I smile. The next day you'll have a good laugh when you tell your friends about the dork you met on the internet.

The best that can happen is we fall in love. It's not as farfetched as it sounds.
