* * Interrupting this space for a special time-limited offer:
I have two tickets to King Lear this Saturday (2/13) at Navy Pier. It's being performed by a Belarus theatre troop in Belarusian (with English subtitles). Reviews say it's amazing (so it must be!).
If trading quizzical looks while listening to Belarusian in the dark is your idea of a fun afternoon, let me know. We could meet for a drink before hand so we're not complete strangers trading quizzical looks while listening to Belarusian in the dark...because that would just be silly.

What I’m doing with my life
I have a job (librarian-ish) I like in a town that I love. When not being paid to work...writing, acquiring food & drink, some general physical upkeep.
I’m really good at
Making you laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
All real food (sorry, vegans). Gin. Oysters.
Frank O'Hara, Infinite Jest, Robyn Schiff, Tender Buttons, W.G. Sebald, Spring and All.
Last movie I liked was probably Sicario. Same guy did Enemy, an even better movie. Also, The Great Beauty...and It Follows. Down with b-movies and Lifetime as well.
The six things I could never do without
This is the worst question of them all, right?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The things people pretend not to notice. The smell of waffles (not joking).
On a typical Friday night I am
Ideally, having dinner/a drink with someone interesting.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Pretty much anything - in person.
You should message me if
You're curious, open to the world, kind. You like to poke around the city, go to a museum, a reading, a show. You've got an interest in being healthy, but not at the expense of some regular indulgence.
