I am wry, improvisatory, and negligibly psychic.

My Self-Summary

Cataclysmic prophecies - Underground philosophies - Hasty thoughts at the last minute - Handy maneuvers to just win it - Catalogs of dream interpretation - Underpinnings of social organization

What I’m doing with my life

Transitioning from IT tech writer to high school english teacher. And eating a little chocolate.

I like men who are smart & funny. Not that complex a notion & yet always a challenge to find 'em.

I’m really good at

Speed film watching. Identifying gay subtexts. Eating chocolate. Pictionary. Entertaining people on long car trips. Throwing theme parties. Getting people out of their shells. Removing anxiety.

Thing I would love to be really good at: the tango!

The first things people usually notice about me

A sense of hilarity entering the room.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Update, for all you curious people (ok, this is old news, but I'll keep it here for those who are interested):
Lately I have not been reading much of great interest. I would like to make a plug for the film LOGGERHEADS -- it's worth searching out; it's playing a few theatres now, will be out on DVD I bet in the next year or so. I also recommend Gregg Araki's MYSTERIOUS SKIN (as well as the original novel by Scott Heim}.

Stephen Merritt is bizarre and wonderful.

I have learned how to make a killer cheeseball for holiday parties & am also learning a few other tasty appetizer recipes. Yum. But 2005 is rapidly drawing to a close without me fulfilling my new year's resolution to cook & eat more fish. However, at least I remember that I had that resolution. I had another one -- I think I did, at least....

Ok, here's some REALLY old stuff if you really are into reading about what I'm reading, etc., which no one really is, but who cares?:

Lately I've really been enjoying Mircea Eliade's A HISTORY OF RELIGIOUS IDEAS. Fascinating the similarities of world religions (& religious bureaucracies) across time & cultures.

Interesting new film I saw recently: HILDE'S JOURNEY. Also a wonderful doc, THE NOMI SONG, about 80s superstar Klaus Nomi. Interesting classic film I finally caught up with, Luis Bunuel's THE DISCREET CHARM OF THE BOURGEOISIE.

Haven't been keeping up with new music lately. My dream is to have super amazing hot seat tix to see BECK -- & while we're at it, my second dream is to have super amazing hot seat tix to see RUFUS WAINWRIGHT. Update: my wish #2 has come true -- I will see Rufus at Carnegie Hall in June 2006.

I can never eat sushi often enough.

The six things I could never do without

Discrete mathematics, cats, Lorraine Bracco, mailboxes, stars, the year 1969.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Thinking. Thinking about thinking. And some thinking about snacks.

On a typical Friday night I am

Taking a disco nap. Whether I reach the disco is another story. I have learned that red bull is a dangerous beverage.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Today I did not understand how to exit a public bus.

You should message me if

You want some wacky yet significant conversation. Or if you're just all sexed up.
