After five and a half years of clever additions, I think my profile essays were a verbose case of information overload.  Explaining everything about me on my profile removes incentives to send me a message and get to know me personally.  I'm still more than a standard deviation longer, but I've made several big edits and hopefully my profile is less imposing.  For any fans of excess details, I saved the originals for posterity.
