My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Alright let's do this.

I'm looking for someone who is fun, easy-going and interesting. More than anything, someone who can teach me something. I can be more serious than I should, but I try and be free and easy with most things. I love trying new things just for the hell of it, especially when I've people to do them with. When things start to get too monotonous, I want to change it up, and I really love people who help me do that more often. If any of this sounds great to you, we should talk!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm just beginning a PhD in Psychology which I'm super excited about. I'm a absolute language/lit geek so it's no surprise my research is in metaphor and analogy. Long and short of it, I look at how we understand things which are literally not true, and how/why that's important to the way we communicate and think. If you want to know more please ask! I might just talk your ear off though...

As far as anything else, I'm just letting myself discover what I'm looking for in life. I want to be very open and honest with people and let myself grow and learn without holding myself back. Mostly though I'm enjoying being young and free and not tied down to much of anything. All that can come later.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm pretty good at piano, I'm significantly not as good at the guitar. I have fun though.

I have an almost unhealthy obsession with music. Listening to it, at the very least. Putting it together and just breaking it down. Is that a skill? Not really.

It's kind of boring, but I'd say I'm good at reading and writing. As a researcher I guess that's pretty important. That means I can read a ton of really debilitating jargon and articles for a day and come up with some experiment to run/study to do. :/ I guess I should be good at it since it's really my life plan right now.

Finally, I cook things. Sometimes those things are good. Most times those things are at least different. At any rate I'm willing to try anything once and love finding new recipes and things to try. I'm probably one of the least picky eaters you can find, and you might have a hard time if there's a LOT of things you don't like. Food is one of the things I absolutely love, and one of my favorite things to do is crack open a bottle of wine and cook a dinner with friends.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't know what other people think. Something which I agonize over sometimes, but ultimately I suppose I wouldn't want.

I guess I've been told I have nice teeth. I don't think my teeth are anything particularly special, but eh, I'll take it. Guess it's a good thing. I guess I can also end up swearing a lot, which if it's a deal breaker for you then I don't understand you at all.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Quick rundown. My favorite book is a tough one. Pretty lame and high school lit, yet true answer might be Les Misérables though there's plenty modern crap that I also love. I also am a particular fan of Kurt Vonnegut, Jonathan Franzen, and pretty much anything by David Sedaris. Oh and don't forget good old DFW. Fucking genius. I've also have a special place in my heart for Shakespeare. *defeated groan* Yes, I know it seems like pretension, but I absolutely love it. Talk to me about it.

Movies. Hard. Favorite might still be The Fountain. Terrence Malik I find very interesting, but I don't pretend to know enough. I've rediscovered an appreciation for The Graduate and its absolute subtlety. I also have started getting into Italian cinema, so if you're interested in some heavier stuff let me know.

TV shows. Easy. I fucking love Battlestar Galactica and if you don't like it we're going to have a serious discussion. Science says so. Also, Arrested Development, Weeds, Party Down and several others. I'm also a huge fan of Dexter. Probably not good that I identify a ton with him (please, please don't think I'm a serial killer). ALSO just recently hugely into The Mentalist

Music. There's so much. Bright Eyes is still one of my favorites. Yes, indicative of a particular time, but I still love them. The rest is a mix of everything else. Black Keys, Okkervil River, The Antlers, M83, Jay-Z, Damien Rice, Cold Play (back off I make no fucking apologies), Kanye, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Mountain Goats, Ray Charles, and I'm stopping there. You'll have to ask me. And show me new things. I fucking love hearing new things.

As for food, that's just impossible...

Also, realized this was anything but a "quick rundown." Fuck it, I'm not rewriting it now.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Okay, here's the deal: the list of things I can honestly not do without, like really do without is very small. I mean really, you take away a lot of things and I'd still be the same person, thinking the same things, and doing pretty much the same things, just probably being more resourceful. So really a list might be like:

Shelter?? (enough not to die I guess)

But, doesn't tell you much about me really. I mean, I guess that I'm human, or at least animal. I'm alive, I suppose if that's a deal breaker for you. So I could give you a list of (equally valid) things which I just happen to like a lot, like:

My ipod
My computer
Good friends
My family
Gorgeous women
Good food

All of which really do like a lot, though the deprivation of which would hardly result in loss of life. Still though this probably doesn't differ all that much from any other person my age living in a western, industrial culture. Sooooo what then?

Get to know me really, I suppose.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Things that generally don't need thinking about and mostly just drive me crazy. Philosophical questions without answers. Way more epistemology than I'd like. Almost any time you can start a conversation with me about something and there's something that's been on my mind.

Sometimes I need to spend less time thinking and more time doing though. So, if you can help with that, I'd be very happy. There's no substitute for experience.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Drinking with friends, making plans that I have no idea if they'll ever work or fall through.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I know which of my friends I'd sleep with and which one's I wouldn't. Doesn't really change anything, but I know. I know.

Oh, and maybe that I have a Barbie doll that is actually pretty important to me. Looong story. Ha you'll have to ask me about it.

You want to geek out about language, or have any thoughts about how metaphor works.
