I am fun, random, and POETIC.

My Self-Summary

I have no idea how to sum myself up in an essay... =/
BUT:
My name is Amanda, I'm 23.
I'm fairly outgoing and I usually talk a lot; I like to be social and have fun but I am also rather content with nights in. Big clubs aren't really my scene, I'd much rather somewhere laid back, like a pub or a music venue, although I am a huge fan of the dance floor.

I get along with most people because I'm patient almost to a flaw and I'm fairly laid back. I'm also quite fine spending time alone. I read a lot, so that keeps me occupied.

Ambitionis the first thing I look for in people. I have goals and I work pretty hard to achieve them, so I think other people should as well.
And you have to treat people right. I'm a nice person, I expect other people to be as well. My biggest fault is probably that I assume everyone is a genuinely good person & I've been wrong quite often. =[

What I’m doing with my life

I am a full-time student, studying English lit / Sociology, I finish this year, then I'll go into education.
Right now, I work 2 jobs, one at Starbucks because it pays and fuels my caffeine addiction, and I work with kids at an elementary school during the school year because it keeps me sane. It's fun, I love it, and it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done.

When I finish school I really want to travel some more. I'm hoping to do a field study for Sociology in Africa in June, so that will be a good start.

I'm quite content with the way my life is going. I have a strong group of friends, an amazing family, and I know which direction I want to take. That said, I really need to meet new people. Hence why I'm on here.

I hate being bored so I try to stay as busy as I can, I'm rarely at home unless it's to study. I like having a packed schedule.

I’m really good at

Talking, a lot, about pointless things.
Singing in my car,
Karaoke
writing, reading & doing the running man.

The first things people usually notice about me

I have a short attention span, and I get distracted quickly.
I ramble a lot. If I'm uncomfortable I tend to be silent or completely pointless.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I read a lot. Right now I'm reading All Families are Psychotic by Douglas Coupland, and God's and Monster's by Christopher Bram. I'm really enjoying both. Both are comical & fairly exciting.
One of my favourite books of all time is A Painted House by John Grisham. I also loved Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is another favourite.
I love biographies as well, I enjoy reading about other peoples lives, it usually gives me some insight into my own. My copy of Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis is pretty worn out. I think I would love it even if I didn't love RHCP.

Any book suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Movies, I'll watch anything. I love movie nights. I'm not a big TV person, but I love film. Stand By Me, The Goonies, and The Sandlotare my favourites. I could watch those movies daily and never tire of them. I also really enjoyed Bella and Milk and others.
I love all genres. I love zombie movies, and action movies. I love film festivals and indie-type movies, but I also love chick flicks and comedys.

Music wise I'm pretty much down for anything. I'm a huge country girl at heart, although my top 4 bands are The Trews, Kings of Leon, Red Hot Chili Peppers & Bedouin Soundclash.
I also have a huge soft spot for No Doubt, I adore Gwen Stefani, and like most girls I've usually got the Taylor Swift playing in my head. I'll always love Dispatch, and State Radio, I throw them on when I'm having a bad day. If you like them, You just gained about 10 points with me. :)
Lately, I'm really into Matt Good. His new album is rad. I just saw him live & it was amazing. Hearing hello Time Bomb live, made all of me very happy.
It's all over the place, and not in the "i like all music, but i HATE ____". I really love music, all music.

The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Finishing school & how I will deal with life post-grad.
& How I can take cheap vacations.

On a typical Friday night I am

Doing something fun. I'm usually out with friends or in with friends, trying to stay occupied.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a daddy's girl. ;) haha.
& I can sing Rent for you from beginning to end. It's pretty sweet. F'Real.

You should message me if

You plan on actually conversing with me. I hate one way conversations. If you're a decent person with a sense of humour I'd love to talk to you.
Or if you want to let me know if a book I HAVE to pick up, or a band I MUST look into.
