On the surface, I've got to admit that I fit a number of cliches. I'm a generation X'er who hasn't quite figured out where financial stability and rewarding work meet. I'm an intellectual who can be incredibly clueless when it comes to the finer social graces. I've made my mistakes and even had a few victories along the way.

I've got a Master's degree that I don't use, but I'm still proud of.

Unfortunately, the office I worked in as a Closed Captioner was closed at the end of last year. I'm currently doing some freelance work to get by while looking for a new permanent position and contemplating going back to school yet again.

I'm one of those people who can't let an idea lie... When something catches my interest, I want to learn all about it and came at through as many angles and perspectives as I can. Whether it's a lasting, life-changing revelation or a 30-second whimsy, I can find something unique and interesting in just about anything. I'm always coming up with new theories about whatever random bit happens by...

I'm tall and quiet. Some people like that... especially people with high shelves and people who like to talk.

Favorites never come out right, so here's what I'm doing right now...

Reading: Trying to start "A Game of Thrones," as watching the HBO show recently got me hooked, and working my way through the 300-issue indie comic "Cerebus."

Watching: i'm pretty much a movie junkie. In addition to whatever I'm watching for review, I try to catch something new when I can.

Listening: I've been listening to a bunch of The Decemberists, Florence + the Machine, and assorted others lately.

Playing: I do like the video games. I just finished Mass Effect 3 and loved it.

My family... My pocketknife/bottle opener (yes, as a matter of fact, it has saved my life before)... DVD/Blu-Ray player... Libraries... My glasses (I find contacts profoundly uncomfortable)... Ellipses...

An awful lot of things that probably don't bear thinking about. And yet I do anyway, for I am an American and never did learn the rules to thinkin'...

By nature I'm a bit of a homebody, but that doesn't mean I'm adverse to a drink down the pub, a show, a movie, or anything else that might come my way.

I am still often seized with the irresistible urge to ride the back of the shopping cart down the parking lot like a skateboard.

You feel like taking a chance on me. I'm probably a long shot, but you never know when I'll pay off big...
