I really am a massive nerd, but hopefully in an endearing way.
Right now I'm working on-and-off for an educational company. I should probably admit that I'm in a transitional phase in life right now and that I'm not entirely sure what will come next. Whatever it is, I'm optimistic that life can and will surprise me.
Like a wise man once said "you met me at a very strange time in my life." If only I could get skyscrapers to actually blow up behind me to underscore my point... (and if you got the reference, we're already friends).
I also review dvds and occasionally books or games for an old friend's website--http://www.nightsandweekends.com
I can get into a conversation about quantum physics as easily and passionately as one about whether The Lego Movie should have won the best animated feature Oscar (it totally should, because everything in it is awesome).
I have some latent artistic ability. I will unlock it one day and then... well, I don't know, but I expect it'll be interesting.
Reading: Just finished F. Paul Wilson's massive Secret History of the World Series (good, slightly cheesy urban apocalypse thriller) and am finally starting on Grant Morrison's Supergods.
Watching: I'm pretty much a movie junkie. I try to keep up on what's coming out and make good use of my Netflix subscription. I'll try anything from blockbuster to documentary and have a serious weakness for a good serialized TV drama.
Listening: Admittedly my musical tastes solidified around mid-'90s alternative, though I've been trying to broaden it lately. I have a special fondness for a great lyricist.
Playing: I do like the video games. As with most my entertainment tastes, I tend towards a great story over online competition - in other words I'm a hard sell without a great single player campaign.
You believe you can learn a lot about a person by looking at their bookshelf (sadly the rise of e-books has made this a bit more difficult).
You love going to movies, plays, or binging on a new Netflix
R+L = J makes your nod your head.
Even if it's not necessarily your thing, nothing makes you happier than seeing someone really geek out about whatever they're into. Enthusiasm is infectious in all the best ways.
You understand the ineffable joy of beating a tough boss fight.
You're okay with someone who can have a tough time around new people and major social situations but is willing to make the effort.
You have been or WILL SOMEDAY go to Comic-con (or are at least willing to entertain my need to make the great nerd pilgrimage).
