My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've accomplished a lot of things in my life. I've interviewed Eldridge Cleaver and Stephanie Coontz. I've blogged stuff that's been retweeted by a congressman and a state representative. I got the highest score in the Abortion Access Network of Arizona's 2013 Bowl-A-Thon, and my Geeks Who Drink team is a formidable contender at Bumsted's on Thursday nights. But one thing I haven't accomplished is finding that special someone.

Anyway, now that I have that deliberately terrible opening out of the way, what else can I say about myself? I'm a vegetarian, primarily for environmental reasons. I've been told more than once that I seem outgoing for an introvert, even though my volunteer activity is sometimes what gets me out of the house more than anything else. I do some stuff for a books-to-prisoners program.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I juggle various projects at the university.

Lately I've been growing a beard and debating whether or not to keep it, getting used to wearing contacts for the first time in my life, and trying to gradually regain my tolerance for alcohol after going several years without drinking. I'm a recovering teetotaler.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Several friends have told me that I should compete in a Scrabble tournament. But I've read books by competitive Scrabble players, and I just don't think I'm cut out for the level of commitment they put into it. I'd like to do other things with my free time besides memorize word lists and do anagramming exercises. Also, have you seen what Nigel Richards, Joel Wapnick, and some of those other tournament winners look like? Damn. What if their style rubbed off on me?

I've also been told I write well. I write for a reproductive rights blog, among other crap.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've never really cared to find out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
I'm not good at picking favorite books, but my favorite authors are Laila Halaby, Michael Muhammad Knight, Arundhati Roy, David Mura, Norman G. Finkelstein, Tim Wise, Winona LaDuke, Michael Parenti, Amy Goodman, Chris Hedges, Vandana Shiva, Noam Chomsky, Greg Palast, Naomi Klein, Bruce Cumings, Linda McQuaig, and Howard Zinn. I don't read a lot of fiction, because I figure a lot of the good novels get turned into movies anyway.

I almost never watch television, but at various times in my life I've occupied my time with Community, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lost, and Game of Thrones (always at some friend's or partner's insistence).

The movies I watch are not nearly as brainy as the books I read (although I do like good documentaries from time to time). I really like movie adaptations of comic books, as well as any science-fiction movies that are enjoyable for their special effects even when they're full of plot holes. Outside of those two genres, some of my favorite movies have been Milk, Kill the Messnger, The Taqwacores, God Bless America, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, The Business of Fancydancing, Rushmore, Stranger Than Fiction, Obvious Child, and Pump Up the Volume.

My musical favorites are The Dandy Warhols, Solex, Gomez, The Submarines, Blue Scholars, Princess Chelsea, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ratatat, Saul Williams, The Lushlife Project, Tame Impala, Lemon Jelly, Beats Antique, Public Enemy, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Amon Tobin, Bonobo, Mala Rodriguez, Röyksopp, and Ana Tijoux.

As for food, my favorite cuisines are Southwestern, Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, kosher style, Middle Eastern, and Korean-Mexican fusion (Korean tacos and whatnot).
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, coffee houses, libraries, bookstores, spicy foods, and Scrabble.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Coffee, coffee houses, libraries, bookstores, spicy foods, and Scrabble.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Usually I'm selling my plasma so that I can have money to score a few grams for the weekend.

(I'm kidding.)
