I am in the mood for a, s, and wich.

My Self-Summary

I, like most good-hearted people, am from Vermont.

Been in the city about 2 1/2 years.
Really like it here, but need to recharge elsewhere from time to time.

Not sure if I have too many irons or too few fires, but either way, I keep busy.
I try to write, or, failing that, feel guilty about not writing.

I frequently run places - sometimes for health reasons, mainly for time reasons.

I like going barefoot, stupid dance moves, cooking, ruins and abandoned buildings, awesome dance moves, parentheticals, really fat and/or ugly animals with flat faces, graphic novels, politics, pinstripes, onomatopoeia, sledding, creative use of hyperbole, bad haircuts, extra breakfast, questions kids ask, fantastic people, guitar distortion and adventures.

I'm decent at cooking and basketball, and I'm pretty good at scrabble and watching movies and drinking red wine, which seems to be what everyone on this site likes to do.
I'm actually just okay at drinking red wine.
I'm not sure how I am at drawing on subway posters, but I'm trying to find out.

I write too much in "about me" sections. Not all at once. I'll just occasionally think of things and add them.

What I’m doing with my life

Comedy. Video. Radio. Wishing I could nap.
I can't nap during the day without drooling.
I have a legitimate job that I couldn't be happier with, so that's the focus now.

Somebody on this site introduced me to the term "Napcident", which is when you start off thinking you're taking a nap, and wake up hours after you intended, or the next morning.
I like this word, and encourage you to start using it.

It just occurred to me that more than half of the "what I'm doing with my life" section of my profile has to do with naps, and how I don't take them.

I'm a writer and video editor. There. That's simpler.

I’m really good at

Drooling. Banter. Bank shots. Intending puns. Kissing. Adapting. Growing beards. Cooking pancakes. Eating pie. Laughing with things. Laughing at things. Laughing despite things. Maintaining perspective. Writing quality emails.

The first things people usually notice about me

I guess it depends where we meet. Like, if I was wearing a vest, it would probably be the vest.
If they were a third grader, it would be that I'm taller than them.
I don't actually know. Ask them. Or wait until the poll results come in.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Here's the thing about these favorites: You always think they're a better indicator of compatibility than they turn out to be.

I mean, yeah, if ONE other person out there liked The Big Lebowski, then holy shit, you're set! But a lot of people like it. And some people like it for THE WRONG REASONS

(editor's note: I don't think people actually like it for the wrong reasons, but I want to get really mock self-righteous about this, so chill out and let me do my thing here, okay cool) (although, actually, if you really like Lebowski because you loooooove George Clooney, that is the wrong reason. He's not in this movie. Go watch Michael Clayton).

Anyway. I'm providing some favorites here as recommendations. If you like some of these, maybe you'll like some others. Go wild.

Books: Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Things They Carried, Jimmy Corrigan, Slaughterhouse Five, Cloud Atlas, What is the What, Watchmen, Pastoralia, CivilWarLand in Bad Decline, Motherless Brooklyn, Fortress of Solitude, Calvin & Hobbes, Yiddish Policemen's Union, Blankets, The Dark Knight Returns, Y: The Last Man

Movies: Princess Bride, In the Mood for Love, Casablanca, His Girl Friday, It Happened One Night, Children of Men, Monsters, Inc, Incredibles, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy, Dr. Strangelove, Girl on the Bridge, Let the Right One In, Fast Cheap and Out of Control, Spirited Away, Duck Soup, M, Modern Times, Die Hard

Music Lately: TV on the Radio, Animal Collective, Talking Heads, Arcade Fire, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, YYYs, Pixies, Spoon, The Rapture, The Kinks, Dead Moon, The Sonics. Oh, and hey, The Wrens! I mean it. If you don't know them, go listen to a few songs on myspace or wherever. Maybe you'll be like, ehh, but maybe you'll be like HOLY SHIT THE WRENS and then it'll be worth it.

I'm absolutely terrible with lyrics. I don't understand it. I finally looked up "Tonight You Belong To Me" on the internet and memorized that because, christ, what a great song. Other than that, the only lyrics I can consistently keep in my head are from "Gangsta's Paradise" which is a terrible waste.

Food: I'm open. You can probably have some of my seafood, though. Honestly, I'm not sure why I even have this seafood.

The six things I could never do without

A sense of perspective.

Family, friends, and essentials for survival (food, air, water, a planet, comfortable pants) go without saying.

Here are six things I wish would become a part, or a more frequent part of my life:

alley-oops
egg nog
a semi-epic to epic superhero origin story
a working guitar and amp
robotic friends
plants

Probability of achieving these things varies.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

stories, plans, what other people are thinking, super heroes. And every so often I'll look at a horizon or down an avenue and see a huge wall of water rising up over everything. I like this, but it's kind of unnerving.

On a typical Friday night I am

oh, the usual.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

First crush was on Penny, Inspector Gadget's niece.
The animated one.

You should message me if

you can hold your own, make me laugh, know when to use apostrophes (okay, maybe weighting spelling and punctuation so heavily makes me kind of irritating. On this point, I have no rejoinder), have a wide variety of passions and interests without collecting and displaying them like you're applying for college, are comfortable in your own skin, embark on unplanned adventures, and have some edge, verve, and a rock-solid sense of perspective.

Or if you know of a frisbee game going on and you need another.

It's true I don't respond that much on here. But it's nothing personal.
How could it be?
